    Enjoyable

I'm not a huge Hallmark person. I watched this because I did grow up with Miss Debbie Gibson and was curious. Considering this is a predictable, cheesy Hallmark movie and she hasn't done a lot of acting... it was quite enjoyable. It had a great simple story and liked that it wasn't the usual over the top mushy movie. It had heart and was great.

    Surprisingly Good

I missed this movie when it first came out. I never was a Debbie Gibson fan. And I agree with several of the things the other reviewer said. Plus I really don't think Debbie Gibson is all that pretty (Pascele Hutton is very pretty), she is not a great singer or actor. But she was perfect for this part. I agree that the good story was the renewed friendship between the sisters, but the love story was pretty good too. I also disagree that it is unrealistic that Debbie can develop into a good teacher in one day. No matter what the politicians say, good teachers are born, not created in a college. My wife and daughter were born to teach. I found out I was not, though I had a master's degree in the subject. When I did finally find my calling, I inspected schools. We had a governor who actually said, "anyone can teach". I saw many people come out of industry and the military who could not. A few could. So to me, the real story was her love for her students and how she found her true calling, to teach.

    Good Acting, Good Story

The casting was well above average for a Hallmark movie, except the record label exec was way too young. Maybe it can't be a Hallmark movie unless casting completely blows it somewhere? The story is a bit slow to start but the pace does improve. The initial awkwardness and renewed relationship between sisters was very well done. The movie ends well but seemed abbreviated.

    For V & V's only

The first V stands for "V"egetarians only. Why? Because this made for TV movie is so CORNY.

The second V stands for any over-the-hill "V"ain person who believe in living in the past just like the washed up singer/songwriter/actress Debbie Gibson is by starring in this, her own vanity project.

Debbie Gibson is supposed to be pretending to be a "has-been" former teenage singer/songwriter star who once opened for Billy Joel's concert before 16,000 music fans, but today finds herself trying to get by teaching at her sister's high school. Debbie's sister is now a successful Vice-Principal so she hires her sister Debbie to teach a class of kids who enjoy singing and songwriting just like Debbie once did.

Heck, the writers even used Debbie's first name to help their audience try and remember it was the once singing teenage star, Debbie Gibson starring in this oh so corny made for TV film. I rated it a 2/10 just to give those of you who watched this boring and predictable film some sliver of hope that all your dreams could also come true some day. Yeah right.
