Worst episode of the entire show

For a second I thought I was watching the wrong show. This episode was absolutely ridiculous and doesn't fit the show at all. It felt like watching a low-budget superhero movie. Disappointing episode for an otherwise great show. It's a shame this was included, it really should have never been made. In my opinion, a complete waste of time.

I thought i had the wrong show on for a minute.

I have no idea why they did this, they could've built Jane's character without introducing four bad actors and making us sit through a thankfully short merry go round. None of those new characters were likable, The short story was very predictable it was very unlike the quality that stranger things tends to offer. It felt like i had accidentally turned on one of those bad marvel shows.

    Nope.

First of all - I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

After the cliff hanger of chapter 6 I would have been sorely disappointed that the story line did not resume until chapter 8 but, thankfully, all the episodes are streamed so the wait was not too long.

What were they thinking? Was this a half-arsed attempt at a spin-off pilot? This whole episode was pointless. If they wanted to develop the Eleven/Jane Ives/Jane Hopper character, there surely must be better ways of doing so rather than taking her on an out-of-town mission of self-discovery whilst encountering 2 dimensional, poorly developed characters unnecessary to the plot.

If for whatever reason your internet went down between chapters 6 & 8 - let me reassure you - you didn't miss a thing.

    Who..... who approved this episode?

If I were to teach a course on how to not make a filler episode in a tv series, this is the one I'd show first.

    Out of place

The episode was not bad it was just out of place. The story of her meeting a sister had a point but the timing on which episode it followed was why it didn't fit.

    • Trivia
The music used when Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) and her gang are preparing to leave to find Ray (Pruitt Taylor Vince) is from the deleted Bank Heist scene from Escape from New York (1981), composed by John Carpenter.
    • Goofs
Just after arriving in Chicago, Eleven looks the wrong way when crossing the street. This is because Millie Bobby Brown is British and they drive on the opposite side of the street.
    • Quotes

Kali: They cannot save you, Jane!

Eleven: No. But I can save them.
