Time for the Heroes to rise!

The demo-dogs have invaded Hawkins' Lab and killed every scientist and security guard in sight. The people we actually do care about are still alive, but Will is inadvertently leading the monsters towards them as the Spy... It's a "Dungeons and Dragons" thing. They narrowly escape, thanks to a heroic act by Bob, and everyone gathers at Joyce Byers' house. Jonathan, Mike, and Joyce desperately try to reach the real Will, but the parasite monster is too strong. The group does discover it functions as a Mind Flayer; - a sort of central control room for all the monsters. Yes, it's another "Dungeons and Dragons" thing. Just when the monsters surround them and all hope seems lost, another heroine makes her big re-entry.

Good and gruesome action in the first half, and pure entertainment in the second half of this episode. It must be the first time that all the pivotal characters are gathered in one location, and it leads to funny interactions between the three different age generations as well as to inventive teamwork. The big finale underlines why it was so important to make the sidestep in episode 7.

Can't I give it more than 10 ? Tell me I can IMDb.

This episode was brilliant- absolutely brilliant. There was never a moment wasted- each scene made sense.

It was tensed, very emotional and scary to the most-I could hear my heart beating faster and faster. The performances all rocked especially Sean Astin took the show this time. He was brilliant and easily one of the most memorable character of the series.

My favorite episode of the entire season. Loved it!!

    Just my opinion

Simply put, after rewatching the series, for me this has been the best episode of all of Stranger Things so far, having watched both season, The sequence of scenes, the suspense, everything is well constructed in this episode; the music, the atmosphere creates tension like never before in stranger things.

    • Trivia
Dacre Montgomery lobbied the Duffer brothers (Matt Duffer & Ross Duffer) for the scene between Billy and his father, Neil Hargrove (Will Chase), saying that "I can't just play bad, because nobody's just bad."
    • Goofs
BASIC was a real programming language which was highly popular back in the 1980s. But the acronym stands for "Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code," the important word here being "beginner." It was a simple, human-readable programming language that even complete novices could master quickly. No programmer would ever have considered writing security or any other mission-critical code, least of all for a secret government scientific laboratory, in BASIC. They'd have used COBOL or FORTRAN or even PASCAL.

Mike Wheeler: [to Will; tearfully] Do you remember the first day that we met? It was... it was the first day of kindergarten. I knew nobody. I had no friends... and I just felt so alone and so scared but I saw you on the swings and you were alone too. You were just swinging by yourself and I just walked up to you and I asked... I asked if you wanted to be my friend. And you said yes. You said yes. It was the best thing I've ever done.
