A Way Back to Mother

There are thousands of orphans around the world because of several reasons such parent's divorce, economic situation, teenage unmarried mother and so on. The film describes emotional changes between those parents and orphans. 37 year old woman, Yuna has hopeless daily life with a ruthless moneylender's controlling receives a sudden phone call from the hospital, saying her mother, left her daughter orphanage is facing the hour of death and ask her to lead a funeral. Yuna gets only 48 hours of a way back to her mother from the ruthless moneylender and begins her unpleasant journey with a man hired from the moneylender At last, Yuna finds her mother's traveling bag after the funeral and starts to cry her heart out because ....

I wonder..who was the mother this movie was dedicated to..I wonder..what was yuna's real name..I wonder..if she regretted...

Well I hadn't heard about director Soo Sung Lee's 2016 movie titled "A Way Back to Mother" prior to getting a chance in 2020 to sit down and watch it. Naturally, with it being a South Korean movie, of course I found the time to sit down and watch it, as I enjoy Asian cinema.

I must say that the movie was definitely well enough acted by the lead actress Go Won (playing Yoo-Na), despite the fact that she really didn't have all that much of a fulfilling script to work with.

I found the storyline to be rather mundane, actually bordering on being downright boring. Why? Well, there just simply wasn't enough of anything worthwhile happening throughout the course of the movie, and whatever did happen was just too generic and predictable.

It was a shame, because "A Way Back to Mother" seemed like a movie that had potential. But it just failed to be outstanding. The characters in the movie weren't properly utilized and it felt just way too shallow.

I am rating "A Way Back to Mother" a mere three out of ten stars, as it wasn't a memorable or overly enjoyable moment in the South Korean cinema.
