    Rock Bottom

Season 3 has been generally poor compared to the first two seasons which were both superb. There has been much padding, the writers seeming unsure or unable to develop the story further. This episode is unfortunately the worst - the others were watchable (just). All screenwriters know that trying to show psychological issues is very difficult (hence why some novels have not been adapted for screen). The dream sequences do not progress the story further - if anyone was been watching this from the beginning they would be in no doubt as to how John and everyone else feels about what they have done - this is just more padding but this time in a ball gown. Dreadful penultimate episode.

    Skip this episode

This episode was pointless and added nothing to the series. Just seemed like it was filler. You can skip this episode and not miss anything, it might even save you from disappointment.

    Completely agree. AWFUL Episode

At this point, 42 minutes into this episode, I have watched nothing that makes any sense. Complete waste so far. So many lose ends of things and we all know there is only one episode left to finish. These twisted recaps are impossible to follow, and they don't add to the story at all. Boo.

    WTF?

I'm with the consensus on this. I think the Kessler's were trying to pull off the something similar to what happened in a few episodes of "The Sopranos" with various dream sequences. In this case it was done virtually the entire episode so we had no idea of where imagination ends and reality begins. Season 3 had started making a good comeback about halfway through with the frame job on Eric and the subsequent efforts of the Rayburn family to cover their tracks, only to find out they keep digging themselves into a deeper hole. So they next to last episode could have been setting the stage for a dramatic finale-except we got an hour of virtual nonsense. Not sure of what to believe in this series, I'll check out the finale cause I've been with it this long. Maybe Sissy Spacek walks into the bathroom to find Sam Shepard in the shower and it's all been a dream, ala 1980's "Dallas"

Skip this Ep, what a tragedy

Wow. What a train wreck. As a long time fan I kept waiting for this to get important. It's the second to last episode so surely we will get some purpose and resolution? Nope! This is the Ep that will sadly define the missed opportunity and the wasted talent that could have made this a seven season series. No wonder they opted to kill the show off when you see this episode.

My disappointment can barely be captured, even the brief appearance of Ben Mendehlson can't save this pointless 'filler' Ep. At such a crucial time, the penultimate episode they chose to waste it on this awful script. Was there a writers strike? What happened here? I wish nothing more than to assure any long time fans that you can skip this Ep. It adds nothing, there is no point and it's just 60 minutes of tiresome viewing that feels like homework. It taints the whole series sadly.

Yes, this Ep can be skipped.

      [first lines]

Nurse: [entering his hospital room] Good morning, John. How you feeling this morning? Do you remember me from last night?

      John Rayburn: No, I don't.

Nurse: That's okay. It's to be expected.

John Rayburn: [noticing her name tag] "Quinlan."

      Nurse: Mm-hm.

[shining her flashlight into his eyes]

Nurse: Look up. Go left. Good.

John Rayburn: Where are my clothes?

Nurse: Your memory will come back when you're ready. Go right. Good. Best thing for you right now is to get some rest.

John Rayburn: I wasn't wearing clothes, was I?
