Roger Ebert - Host: [reviewing "Paulie"] In a way, this whole movie comes down to whether or not you like Paulie the parrot, and I didn't. He talks and talks and talks, and at first, you're amazed by a talking parrot, but at the end of the movie, you're ready for the parrot to shut up already!
Gene Siskel - Host: Yeah, I mean, I didn't like "Paulie" either. Now, I want to tell you something. Just by sheer coincidence, two days before we saw this movie, I saw a movie called "Babe" again.
Roger Ebert - Host: Uh-huh.
Gene Siskel - Host: Oh. Oh my God...
Roger Ebert - Host: Okay, "Babe"?
Gene Siskel - Host: In other words, it CAN be done. You can anthropormorphize...
Roger Ebert - Host: Well no no no no...
Gene Siskel - Host: ...A creature.
Roger Ebert - Host: ...Wait a minute, I'd like to corr- it can be done with a pig, a dog, a horse, and a cat, and a monkey...
Gene Siskel - Host: And a duck.
Roger Ebert - Host: And a duck, and a whale, but it can't be done with a parrot.
Gene Siskel - Host: Well, I wouldn't want to put limits on people, it can be done with good writing, and there isn't any in this one.
[Ebert chuckles]
Gene Siskel - Host: I mean, no, I did not like "Paulie", I wanted, uh, to have a big cat come up and just eat the parrot.
Roger Ebert - Host: Oh no, no, no, that's cruel, Gene.
Gene Siskel - Host: That's intended to be cruel.

Roger Ebert - Host: [reviewing "Nightwatch"] There are a couple of scenes that are kinda creepy, like if the alarm goes off it means one of the corpses came back to life, and then you just wait to see how long it's going to take for the alarm to go off. But on the other hand, the whole murder plot is really leaky and you can see right through it. I'll tell you how soon I guessed who the killer was. The opening credits.
