Great Paulina Gaitán starring Violetta...there could not be a better actress for the role! The book adaptation is phenomenal and supported by the same book writer Xavier Velasco.
Great drama and an hedgy story!
The series is based on the 2003 novel 'Diablo Guardián' by Xavier Velasco.
Violetta (Paulina Gaitán) is a sucker for luxurious and materialistic lifestyle and leaves her ordinary Mexico life for the glittery life of New York, with $217,000 in hand, that she had stolen from her disapproving parents.
Initially, she revels in luxurious - hotel stay, clothing, wine, dine and the likes. But eventually, the money runs out and she resorts to high end conning and prostitution, till it lasts.
Herein, the protagonist is kind of amoral but child like and gleeful and continuously experiments with everything fashionable and luxurious, which makes for an interesting watch.

Paulita Gaitán did a great job, but I think that, compared to the book, adaptation was poor.
So many things unexplained.
Huge important parts of the book went missing.
I don't understand or read Spanish much, so watched with subtitles.
No spoilers in this review because the less you know, the better.
The lead actress is excellent. I had seen her in Narco, so she looked familiar, couldn't place her. All the actors are good, but she steals the show. I'm very curious about the books.
Giving It a ten for the uniqueness and the lead Actress
Are there going to be more seasons? Hard to believe.
I'd love to talk about the series, but on this one any spoilers would interfere with surprises. Very R rated. It avoids showing the few moments of actual violence. Lots of drug scenes. Sex scenes aren't explicit, but frequent.
Overall a very tricky and clever story.

I don't agree with the purists: Diablo Guardián is a darn good adaptation of a novel that wouldn't fit work as a movie.
The actors are amazing, both Violetta (Paulina Gaitán) and Nefastófeles (Andrés Almeida) did an outstanding job. Also, let's remember Xavier Velasco (the writer) chose Paulina and Pig, he helped with the casting.
So, needless to say I love it. I think it'll become a big event for Prime Video production and it's already a high mark for Mexican TV.

- TriviaSince the first episode of this series , Paulina Gaitan has invariably had some nude scene. It wasn't so easy, she says, because she actually considers herself quite modest, and for that reason, these sequences had to be done behind closed doors, or rather, on a closed set. "Batan Silva always respected me a lot, he knew that I was a complicated character, that I had to be with someone every day or be naked. They took these issues very delicately, they took great care of me. I was naked and played with the actors, you know? There was never any problem." But also, Paulina adds, there was a cunning plan: to avoid making her uncomfortable, she did the sex scenes with friends. "There are many cameos and those people who just happen to be intimate, what I asked for was for them to be my friends. So I brought actors with me who are lifelong friends, like José Sefami. I told him: 'Come Sefami, let's have sex, my love, we're going to have a good time' and there we were having a good time, as it should be."
