Travis Fimmel is a great actor. The storyline is beautiful and the music makes it even more complete. Absolutely a masterpiece!
Travis Fimmel as Ragnar still remains the most intense and visceral character I've ever seen in a TV show. His performance and presence was the heart of Vikings, and the show just fell off a cliff once he was out of the picture.
When Vikings and GoT were going head to head, there were many points when I genuinely felt Vikings surpassed GoT in quality, largely because of Travis.
All the plots and performances after Ragnar's death were subpar, laughable, and even just flat and boring. How can a show like Vikings go from searing excellence where I am excited for each new episode in the first four seasons, to eventually not even bothering to finish the series because it got so boring after Ragnar.
The emotional punch itself of this episode is heavy and tear inducing, as the filmmaking is firing on all cylinders here. Truly a masterful episode to cap off 4 brilliant seasons of build up.

One if the saddest episodes I've ever watched and it was so beautifully done. I'm disappointed it took me so long to watch the show but it is a great show. This episode touched my heart. I know King Ranger had a bad side to him, but it was hard to not fall in love with his character. Travis Fimmel was superb in this role. He made you love him, hate him and everything in between. As I continue to watch I miss him, but so enjoy watching his sons follow in his footsteps and create their own legacy!
Well here it is folks...not the SHows end, but...for those like myself that know a bit about history, it was all leading up to this episode, so to speak.
Even with the slightest of investigations into Ragnar Lothbrok and his brother Rollo and their lineages, the earliest episode with the King of Wessex and his snake pit should have said it all.
HIstory has done a bang up GREAT job with this series, and I Am glad it is still airing new episodes for the now. THough the vikings were some of the most vile and ruthless and brutish peoples, this show really made em seem so much more human. Well played. LONG LIVE RAGNAR LOTHBROK!

- TriviaMost of the Northumbrian soldiers in this episode were played by extras who usually play vikings. Many of them felt strange taking part of the torture of their "leader".
- GoofsWhen Aella has Ragnar stand against a tree, he is being held by two soldiers with two nooses around his neck. In order for Ragnar to speak, the nooses are taken off. In the next shot, they appear, then they vanish again.
