A little movie that surprises at almost every turn. It's funny, surrealistic, sweet and both feminist and politically incorrect at the same time. Chloe Levine and Kimie Muroya are believable friends, and the nutjobs that fill up the adult portion of their lives are grimly hilarious and very believable. The "quirk factor" never goes out of bounds it doesn't drag on like so many indies. It's a special movie that's not quite like anything I've seen.
It's a light and intelligent coming of age movie. Loved how it's not typical and is just simply life.
My wife didn't like it though, said it was boring. She watched till the end though, which is something rare, so i guess that says something as well.

There are certainly funny bits, and I enjoyed them, but I appreciate the timeliness of this movie. It touches on all the themes of the day: mental health and feeling out of control of your own life, and the need for human interaction, even when it might put you at risk.
The performances are subtle and touching. The scene design helps tell the story in an eye-catching way (love the rainforest). I recommend this for anybody wanting a quiet movie to watch with friends, remote or otherwise.

Two girls in high school are best friends (chloë levine, kimie muroya), but everyone gangs up on them, in the name of anti-bullying. Kat does the deed with a guy, who advertises it on social media. Even though he promised to keep it quiet. Janet (muroya) has weight issues; she finds Rian, but she's not sure if he's real. It might just be the meds she's on. Kat's mom goes on a self pity crying spree that goes on waaaay too long, and gets cra cra annoying. Nothing really gets settled here, but the friendship between kat and janet seems to be rock solid in the end. Written and directed by keith bearden. It's pretty good.
What a peculiar and wonderful movie! I was dragged along to a screening and didn't know what to expect and really haven't stopped thinking about it since. Wouldn't mind seeing it again. Perfect indie flick.
