When you're watching a movie, you know it is not so good when it fails to go into an interesting direction and at the same time your mind comes up with so many other directions in which the movie could've gone. That is the kind of feeling you get while watching Villains. It had a good premise. But fails to develop that premise properly.
It had some inklings of developing the characters, but no. It doesn't fully develop any of the characters.
It had some comedy moments. But then it never fully uses that potential.
By the end of the movie, I didn't care about any of the characters at all. I didn't care about where the story went.
The acting was good. But that was not enough to keep me interested.

The movie is quick .. has a perfect harmony between the comedy, drama and action... the plot was genuine and the script was so connected and almost flawless ...
Bill Skarsgård was amazing ,, liked him showing his nervous intense comedic act .. he and Maika Monroe were a good duo ,, and Jeffrey Donovan was perfect for the role.
The whole thing might seem small due to the limited set and really small cast but man!! the story shined and expanded that at some moments it leaves you on the edge of your seat.
Anyway,, as I said, Bill deserves this .. even though every time I look at his eyes it kinda still freaks me out 😂😂 but he did amazing. and I hope this does well on the boxoffice.

"It never got weird enough for me." Villains is not a bad film, nor is it one I regret watching. It is brisk, quirky, and without any offensively glaring issues other than it plays it safe. This little genre film had potential in regards to all aspects of filmmaking (the writing, direction, acting, etc.) but it also had an air of reserve that suggests inexperience. Villains is so concerned with going down easy for the mainstream that it never attempts to be anything past standard. I wanted to love this film in the way I love Funny Games, Bound, and virtually everything by John Waters, but instead I find myself going back to one word when someone asks me to describe Villains... "meh."
It's got action, it's got horror, it's got romance, it's got comedy. Villains is a pretty good package, overall.
I really like what was going on here. It's never boring always amusing and the story just kept evolving though out until the end.
Great!
*NON-SPOILER*
No doubt this film lives up to the comedy-horror genre, but the horror isn't the type of 'gory, scary, intense' horror. It's more of a mysterious, bad-situation type horror.
The comedy side of things can be funny at times. It's hard to describe what the film is about without giving out a 'big chunk' of a spoiler. A lot of the storyline occurs within 4 walls, where one of the two couples involved, live. The other couple is battling to get away.
The film is filled with the standard tense moments, 'will they, won't they' type scenes but overall it's alright to watch, nothing special but I've seen a lot lot worse.
