This simple but empowering story about a kite venturing through the elements, surviving every kind of hardship is a wonderful story that knows how to get you emotionally invested and connected. The music mixed from perfect to acceptable but overall, this was a wonderful little short that was a true feast for the eyes and definitely a vibrantly stunning piece to absorb.

The Wayward Kite is an 8 minute short film that packs a seriously powerful punch. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this film! The story follows a heart shaped kite, and uses its journey throughout the film to convey a full spectrum of emotions. I never thought this kite would make me feel so much! There was no dialogue in this film, which makes it that much more amazing. The combination of movement, colors, musical selection, and animation effects conveys everything you need to know without saying a single spoken word. The story is fantastic, emotionally driven and inspiring. The film is visually pleasing with gorgeous scenery through the kite's travels. Everyone has 8 minutes in their day to dedicate to this film- you definitely won't regret it!

Who'd have thought 8 minutes of animation could be so powerful? The Wayward Kite tells the story of a heart-shaped kite separated from the others. Despite the fact that no words are spoken during the film, the kite still manages to convey emotion. Its main form of communication with the viewer is movement: happy, lost, determined, sad – all of this is clearly shown to us, even though the kite lacks speech or facial expressions. It actually reminds me of the Magic Carpet from Aladdin, which also had a distinct character even though it wasn't human. Next, I have to mention the sound of this short film. It is absolutely marvelous! The orchestral soundtrack perfectly complements the kite's journey, reacting to its every movement, while the flapping of the fabric creates a strong sense of winds, and, subsequently, flight to the viewer. The imagery in the movie definitely carries a metaphorical meaning to it, perhaps that a person's heart is strong and even though it's torn and tattered it will still find the strength to rise above. Also, the animation is stunning. The colors, the fluidity of movement, the rain effects, everything is insanely pretty and really pleasant to the eye. My favorite scene was, without a doubt, the beginning, with all the different kites soaring through the sky. Whatever its meaning may be though, I can say that The Wayward Kite is a beautiful and emotional story, spoken through images and sound, and one that you should take the time to experience for yourself.

The visuals for the city, the rain, the sun and the clouds, even the garbage truck is exquisitely designed and brings the world to life in spectacularly gorgeous fashion.
