    Not Historical, Fiction

While remaining entertaining drama, this episode of Victoria has jumped the shark as historically accurate fiction; none of the most prominent things probably happened. The Upstairs revelation, while consistent with the historical record (though not the casting), is only a theory, and not the most likely one. The mandatory Downstairs plot has finally abandoned the pretense of a connection between the names of its characters and real people. The connection between the two plots has succumbed to the mandatory twenty-first century trope that characters in an historical drama, of whatever century, are only admirable when their attitudes are actually from 1968, and make them disregard their duties in their actual time.

    God, this was so intense

This show is full of surprises, intense and emotional, I'm in love with Victoria and Albert (please marry in the real life), they are a very unique couple, going through everything together and having such wonderful moments... Scenes of Tom Hughes in this episode were incredible and so powerful, the developt of his character It's unbelievable, give an Emmy to that man!

Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes sang a few of German songs. Jenna Coleman admitted on Late Show with Seth Meyers she wanted to back out and emailed to be dubbed. In the end she did her own singing. Neither are fluent in German. She later sang a few lines of an English carol in the Christmas Special.
    • Goofs
Lord Melbourne's death is shown as happening before the birth of Victoria's first son, Albert Edward, the future Edward VII. He was born in 1841. Lord Melbourne died in 1848. By then, Victoria and Albert had six children. But the series shows only the two oldest, Victoria, called "Vicky", and Albert, nicknamed "Bertie".
    • Quotes

[Albert and Ernest are drinking to the memory of their father who has just died. They are both very inebriated]

Prince Ernest: I believe that you are drunk, Albert.

Prince Albert: I believe that I am. It is a most peculiar sensation. It feels as if I have elves around my person.

      Prince Ernest: Elves or pixies?

Prince Albert: One cannot be sure.
