My problem with the Arrowverse shows, and specifically Arrow, is that I don't feel like the shows take chances anymore. Almost everything of significance that happens is undone a few weeks later. The break-up of Team Arrow into two separate teams will most certainly be changed within the next few episodes. Granted, there is not a single part of me that feels we even need Rene, Dinah, or Curtis anymore (or maybe ever did). But I know for a fact that those three will be back on the team by episode 14 or 15.
This episode, albeit better than the awful mid-season finale, was yet another example as to how far this show has fallen off the map. And the fact that even with the original Team Arrow taking back the shotcalling duties, I can't say I'm looking forward to next week's episode. Heck, I keep laughing at the fact that there's even a debate as to if OTA can defeat Cayden James & crew by themselves. Have Rene, Dinah, or Curtis ever showed us that they are a vital part of the team? No, it's Diggle, Felicity and Oliver. That's who matters. But I guess this is a different conversation.
There was one particularly great moment in the episode, that being the really great one-shot fight sequence in the warehouse. The action isn't at the point where I care about every punch and kick like I do when there's a good villain, but I can always appreciate a really well put-together fight sequence. And you know what made it so great? It was Ollie by himself in the field. It was also nice to see Thea and Lance have a few scenes together. Those two were a highlight of last season, even with Thea only appearing in like 14 episodes. But besides those two things, there wasn't much to talk about with this episode, at least good things to talk about.
