Last Chance for a Season 6 Redemption

After the debacle of last week, "The ties that bind" was a slight pick up for the show, even if it double downed on some of the retcons this show has done over the last few weeks. As much as it frustrates me that both teams are now back to normal and all of the previous conflicts have been brushed off, at least it's over. They never truly found a way to resolve that conflict properly, but I guess giving it a definitive ending was the right move to make.

As generic as Diaz has been, it was a cool way to start off the episode by having his men attack each member of the team in their respective homes/locations. He still comes off as a guy who can't really do much without double crossing or catching someone by surprise. He just doesn't pose a physical threat, and we saw a clear representation of that when he fought Ollie a few weeks ago. Also, unless I'm missing something, why would Diaz have an entire flash drive/device with all of the corrupt law enforcement in the city on it? It just seems like a plot device that is simply there to give the heroes an out at the end of the season.

The episode ends with Ollie meeting up with Agent Watson pleading for her help in taking down Diaz, and it seems as though he has officially given up his identity to her (off the record). What could possibly be her second request? One would think it would related to coming out as the Green Arrow to the public, but after last week, that seems less and less likely.

    Gets worse, every episode!

William: "EEeeek! Dad! There's an eggshell in my egg!"

Felicity gives Ollie the stink-eye for wanting to put the planet's deadliest poison, salt, on his eggs.

AYFKM?! The writers have really painted themselves in a corner with that guy! Place your bets; Gets shipped off to Aunt Tilly, gets killed, joins his dad *not* stopping the bad guys lol!

The story is so predictable, too. Just another series where too much of the audience have low demands from them, and let them (writers) get away with lazy scripts. All they're doing is taking previous season's plots and repeating them, again and again.

AWESOME that there's only one more episode of this series that's been in a coma for the past three years.

    Good old Arrow.

Every now and then this show delivers a beyond-expectations episode, this was one of those.

It's a wild time in Star City tonight!

Is it just me, or has season six of Arrow gone by too quickly? Maybe the fact that the better half was forgettable, but I'm still very sad that there are and will be so many waisted opportunities. Kirk Acevedo's Ricardo Diaz is one. We really go to see how unchained he could be if things went south for him and his rage induced killings all but added up. That's one of the "waisted opportunity" for sure, Diaz was extremely under-utilised this season and we never really go to fully enjoy him. The show also seemed to spend its budget a bit more, with the opening action scenes being as chaotic as ever and the later fights towards the end weren't too shabby either. What stuck out a bit was Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) having couple issues again. That would be season four material, but at least the writers handled the drama well enough for it not be overwhelming and Felicity's comical moments during firefights sure elevated an otherwise darker episode. Another thing that was a little bugging was the fact that by the end, there seems to be no huge end-game put into motion and that most of Team Arrow came out of Diaz's ruthless attacks unscathed. Team Arrow is also whole again and with all their snarky comments out of the way, it is good to see Green Arrow have a proper team again. All issues aside, Arrow delivered a bombastic and cleverly assembled chapter in "The Ties That Bind", and its finale looks pretty darn epic.

Oliver Queen: I am the Green Arrow.

Samandra Watson: And the truth shall set you free.
