Ok, first off, I cannot stand this show. But my 2.5 year old kid loves it. So we watch it, because I love my son. That said...
They stole Pee Wee Herman's manchild bit, even the too small clothes (in this case the pants where as Herman's entire suit was 1 size too small) and the bow tie. He uses a higher pitched and childish voice, as did Herman. He dances around in a silly childish manner, as did Herman.
Yes, he entertains my son. But teaching kids to paint on walls and run around rambunctiously is not really a good thing. He runs around a zoo, around outdoor playplaces in areas that you are not supposed to run. Sure, he says "And dont run here" but he is actively running and bouncing around. He teaches them to throw fruit and other foods into a pool, like a busted open watermelon. And as someone with a pool, that is a stupid thing to teach kids.
He wears fake glasses, and while it would be good to teach kids that glasses are fine. Even my 2 year old told me his glasses are fake. And since my wife and I both wear glasses, and both had to start wearing them in or just after high school... he will probably need them and we want him to see positive images with them. But when a 2 yer old calls them out for being fake....
As a parent, I actually love most childrens programming. We watch Mr Rogers, Sesame St, Bluey, Paw Patrol, and several more things... and this. And this is the only thing that sets me off like this. I find Meekah less offensive, he just irks me greatly.
