    Really moved by this episode

This episode reminded me of Brooklyn 99's greatest strength as a show - presenting equality and diversity in such a nuanced and casual way. Despite such a diverse cast, I have never seen one of them as a token character.

Seeing the two schools of thought from Holt and Terry's era intertwining for a better tomorrow was heart-warming. This was stellar writing and handled beautifully by the actors. Even portraying how non-black allies dealt with it i.e Rosa's anger, Jake and Amy's reassuring speech to the kids or even Gina's sarcasm highlights how we must stick together to eradicate and overcome hateful people.

To anyone saying a comedy show should not address these issues - you are part of the problem! There is more to comedy than one liners and gags, it's an expression of irony, hypocrisy and self-reflection which this episode did very well.

One of the best episodes of any show I've ever seen

This was one of the best episodes of any show I've ever seen. It took a difficult, challenging and genuine issue and handled it with finesse and sensitivity, without skipping over the important details. Important opinions were expressed and listened to, and the humour in this episode came from other places and other plot points so as not to make the issue a joke. I'm blown away by the sensitivity and importance of this episode, and how well it was done. Terry Crews' acting was from the heart and honestly moved me to tears. What an outstanding 20 minutes.

    Necessary

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a show where goofy cops do goofy things and it usually ends up being pretty funny. Unfortunately for the show it is running during a very turbulent time for this country's attitude toward police. To NOT run this episode would have been a mistake, ignoring the harsh realities of a racially supercharged nation and continuing with glib cops skipping around while real cops routinely violate civil rights and freedoms. This episode needed to be made, to show audiences that the people making the show weren't completely ignorant of struggles with police that were absolutely defining the nation at the time with the rise of Black Lives Matter. This needed to be made to get back to getting away with cops freewheeling and acting like the world doesn't matter. So even if you didn't think this episode was funny (it wasn't) it had to happen. That being said, Terry Crews did an excellent job and the point, while a bit lightly touched on, landed.

Terry and holt did an awesome job

The speech of terry he told really got to me. I think it delivered a very strong message. It was not forced, it was done with care and emotion. One of the best episodes

    O didn't even laugh

I laugh at every single episode of the series, but not in this one. I Just contemplated how beautiful, important and sensitive the episode was. I just wanna say thank you for the whole series, but especially for that.

    • Trivia
The cast and crew wanted to do some episodes that were about serious subjects and had limited comedy elements, but it took until Season 4 to come up with an episode that they felt did this effectively, involving Terry being racially profiled and how he and the rest of the 99 responded. After "Moo Moo" was widely praised, similarly balanced episodes appeared in each remaining season.
    • Goofs
When Jake and Amy are "driving" the van, interior shots clearly show the gear selector in the park position.
    • Quotes

Terry Jeffords: When I got stopped the other day, I wasn't a cop. I wasn't a guy in the neighborhood looking for his daughter's toy. I was a black man - a dangerous black man. That's all he could see: a threat. And I couldn't stop thinking about my daughters - and their future - and how years from now, they could be walking down the street, looking for their kid's Moo Moo, and get stopped by a bad cop. And they probably won't get to play the police card to get out of trouble. I don't like that thought.
