96 total tracks, biggest character roster of any Mario Kart game, an endless kart customization that unfolds as you beat more tracks, an online mode, what's not to love?
I've been a fan of the Mario Kart series since the GameCube era. Double Dash will always be my favorite but this one is a close second but deserves it because of the amount of fun content available in this game.
They're announcing Mario Kart 9, but unless they bring back double karts like in Double Dash, I'm not interested. Because there's not much else left to go after 8 Deluxe.
Mario Kart 8 (&Deluxe) are my favorite racing games in an industry filled to the brim with racing games. Modern racing games just don't compare to the goofy, fun combat racing that Mario Kart offers.
This game is well worth its price and DLC price, you'll have dozens of hours of gameplay and will want to keep going back for more.

I will be completely honest, the fact this game still gets updates completely baffles me. The stages already in the game were already great, but then they added an amazing DLC with new characters, and some new tracks that are as good as the originls. This game is a living legend, and I don't think any other games can compare to it. This game was the main reason I wanted a Nintendo Switch, even without the added content, and now the added content makes it even better!
Furthermore, many videogames have trouble with their Online system, but this one actually works decently well. I haven't gotten too much issues with it and these days it's rare. 10/10.

Mario Kart 8 was already one of the best entries in the series, and I'm so glad it got a second life as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. From the moment I first started racing back on the Wii U, I knew this game was something special. The gorgeous visuals, dynamic soundtrack, and tight, exhilarating gameplay made it an instant favorite.
Deluxe doesn't just repackage the original - it refines and expands it. It includes all previous DLC, a fully revamped Battle Mode, and new characters like the Inklings from Splatoon, King Boo, and Bowser Jr. This version feels like the ultimate edition of Mario Kart 8, and it truly lives up to that title.
The introduction of anti-gravity racing brought a fresh twist to the formula, letting players zoom along walls and ceilings in a way that feels natural and exciting. Combined with the underwater and gliding mechanics from Mario Kart 7, this game offers one of the most dynamic and satisfying driving experiences in the series.
With 48 tracks (a mix of creative originals and beautifully remastered retro courses), there's no shortage of variety. Every race feels different, and the game has endless replay value - especially with friends, family, or online players.
Even with Mario Kart 9 and the Nintendo Switch 2 now out, I still find myself coming back to Deluxe. It's a modern classic and a true gem - not just in the Mario Kart series, but in racing games as a whole.

The controls are more realistic. The tracks are more realistic too. Battles are more fun. I haven't played Mario Kart since Mario Kart for the Wii and this game is better than the Wii one.
The perfect arcade racer. Beating all the 200cc cups with 3 stars is an entertaining and fast-paced journey that will keep you engaged. The extra content is beautiful and well designed (tracks, characters, vehicles).
Even though it's a re-release of a 2014 game, it holds up incredibly well. It brought back that same joy I used to feel playing Mario Kart 64, but now with way more characters, more tracks, and even better graphics and gameplay - and the fact that it's portable just makes it better.
No wonder it's the best-selling game on the Switch. It's accessible, polished, and just pure fun. A must-have for gamers of all ages.
