Going on a gay cruise now seems like an abysmal idea.

I'm still unsure why this documentary was made. If I were a Catholic prayer-warrior I would use this movie to prove how gays are just shallow, selfish, sodomites with a lost direction in life. Everything about the movie seemed so empty. The character's feelings were empty, the interactions were empty. After about 30 minutes this movie just proved to be a step-and-repeat about loneliness and disappointment.Does anyone make any lasting friendships on these boats? They portrayed everyone as just heartless and cold, only smiling when they find a body to hug close to them for the night.

If this is the standard for gay cruises, count me out! I was very interested in gay cruises, but it appears from this movie I wouldn't make many lasting memories...as my memory of this movie is quickly fading.

On the plus side, this movie makes me very thankful for my own gay life. I do believe I'm having way more fun than those poor souls.

A documentary about gay men discovering themselves

This documentary tells the story of some gay men who are on board a gay cruise to discover themselves and their lifestyles.

Some websites and blogs have portrayed this documentary as an expose of how gay cruises are not fun, and trigger insecurities of gay men. I think it is not true at all. In fact, this documentary tells how several gay men successfully understand themselves on a gay cruise. It is a documentary that is filmed on a gay cruise, but not about a gay cruise.

    A lost opportunity

Saw this film last night at the Sydney Queer Film Festival with 3 mates. We all found it rather disappointing as we'd all been on a Cruise Ship before and had a lot more fun than these poor devils seem to have experienced....the men that were chosen to showcase all had religious upbringings and while this is not itself a bad thing, it weighed too heavily on the course of the movie....the cinematography was excellent but overall that couldn't save the limp story-line

    Oddly depressing and pointless

A huge cruise boat populated by young men ready to party and have fun in an environment of controlled frenzy. Sounds like the opposite of depression, right? Wrong! The interviews often dwell over sad or deep subjects but the real problem is the persistent aura of sadness that permeates even the moments that are supposed to be happy. The pacing, the color, the music... everything contributes to make this documentary incredibly gloomy and overall pointless, since nothing especially interesting or poignant ever happens.

Certainly a special slice of gay men on an all-gay cruise

When I read some of the negative, bitter, and rather inaccurate (ie saying that post 60 gay men were shown as sad, silly queens. did not happen for me), I decided not to show it for some friends but did decide to view it alone. Yes, this is not a slice of everyday gay men but a gay cruise. I found the film, poignant, honest, touching and ultimately positive. I am well over 60, so, you negative types need to calm down!
