It's not hard to understand why views about this series are so extreme, but since when has Reality TV been "real"? Scripted or not, it's definitely edited, and -- for the record -- I'm not Australian but I don't think the series reflects badly on Australians at all. It's often funny, and definitely shows many aspects of wherever they go.
Over the years they mix up the groups from time to time, which is good, because some of the participants are becoming a bit jaded after having been literally everywhere. And I have no sympathy for someone who downgrades a trip because they didn't like the food or said the bed was too hard or you had to drive yourselves. Tough: you signed up for this.
But overall, a terrific concept, well-executed and (in many cases) saves me the time and money of trying to go to those places myself. Love the show.

I hate reality TV but they have nailed this show. On paper it sounds rubbish I.e. send groups of people to different locations to rate the holiday. What makes this show are the people and the situations that the production team put them through. The Fren family are so funny with their self-deprecating humor. Kevin's acerbic wit is comedy gold. Add other groups like the twins who have never gone further than Tamworth in the mix and it all adds up to one of the funniest shows on TV. Take it for what it is, this is not really a travel guide but unscripted comedy with a slice of travel info. Excellent.
Never watched travel guides but thought I would take a look because I'm going to Finland.
What an insult to my intelligence.
Bogan Australians being loud and obnoxious is not entertainment.
Why can't they interview middle class Australians who can put a sentence together and record objective comments about the great places to visit? And include interviews of locals about what they think are the highlights of their country.
I can't imagine what the people who live in this country, who've crossed paths with these ugly Australians, think of us. What an insult to the country visited.
How can anyone watch this trash?

If they laugh so much at their own lame jokes it's a waste of an hour, very sad how lame Aussie shows are becoming, apparently the cruder the better to attract the brainless society that will laugh at anything
I'm not Australian, but I wish those who are and who put this programme down could see what genius it is. Five bunches of Aussies sent on a mission each week to report back. They can be in luxury accommodation or living in a tent on a beach, you can depend on a variety of responses and reactions. I can never guess who is going to rave about their week or hate it. It's a good way to relax and enjoy fun tv - something that is becoming rare. Some weeks, it is the group of lads who drive you nuts, other weeks it's the Fren family (I do wonder how they manage their accommodation ?) or perhaps Kevin and Janetta? Noooo..... It's good tv because you see various places and can work out if you'd like to visit by the teams' reactions.
