All hail the Kingpin

The excellent writing continues as we learn Fisk has even more control than we previously thought. Now with almost three seasons of seeing Fisk, the sheer power and intimidation he exudes never lets up. This show could easily be called Kingpin and it would be just as satisfying and that is testament to the incredible writing and performance by D'Onofio. Fisk is far from a sympathetic villain; you know you shouldn't root for him but he does everything so effortlessly well that you just want to always see him on screen.

Growing suspense

Although some of the familial shenanigans scream 'soap opera', generally this is a very good episode with Nadeem's sub-plot in particular becoming very intense, suspenseful and well-focused.

Trivia
When Matt first enters the boxing gym, part of a boxing match poster of Carl Crusher Creel vs. Battlin' Jack Murdock is visible. Crusher Creel is also known as the super-villain "The Absorbing Man" in the Marvel Comics Universe, who having once been a boxer but was tricked and given superhuman abilities by the arch-villain Asgardian Loki. Creel also has a recurring role in another Marvel television series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013), being played by actor Brian Patrick Wade.
