    Better and better

In the previews episodes I sympathized Ralf when I heard his story... But I didnt thought he would be eleminated from this ''brain'' guy. In general a smart script.

    All the time

If you put a monkey at team flash and you made him the Flash I believe he would learn to be better after 4 years. Unfortunately for anyone in Team Flash, Barry Allen isn't a monkey. He never learns and his progression as a character is awfull.

He is in a constant loop of denial and self pity.

    What is "The Enlightenment" Anyway?

In the long list of Flash episodes with irrelevantly clever titles, Fury Rogue turned out to be just another week of The Flash. I was glad to see Neil Sandilands return as The Thinker in a more full capacity however, because of the random and unnecessary appearance of Katie Cassidy's Black Siren (rather Siren X as she's known on Earth-X), it didn't feel like this episode was a Thinker episode at all. Siren wasn't the only one trying to overshadow The Thinker tonight.

Tonight saw the return (and final appearance?) of Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold/Citizen Cold/Leonard Snart. He's one of those arrowverse characters that I've gone up and down on. I despised Miller's performance when he first started and I'm not even sure why, but I've come to really enjoy his various appearances throughout the universe. While it wasn't my favorite performance, his turn tonight was a fitting end, if it is the end, to a solid run on these shows. Heck, it's just fun seeing him play Snart on the protagonist side of things instead of snobby villain he started out as. Providing Barry with emotional support after a death last week was an unexpected way to give Snart screen time, but it sure keeps his character full circle.

But that's also where this episode faulted significantly for me. Because Ralph was never one of my favorite characters, I found it hard to believe Barry would be this shaken up over things. They were trying to compare this death to that of his parents, Ronnie, or Eddie, and I just didn't see it. And it's not like we haven't already had enough of our Arrowverse heroes blaming themselves for a death on the show, hiding their grief, and needing (several) scenes of emotional support from other characters. At this point, these scenes just felt like a waste of space. But that's just me.

We'll see where the story goes with 5 episodes left. I'm not sure I can even consider myself excited at this point. It's been a long time since we got a great episode (besides the one-off Enter Flashtime) and The Thinker hasn't truly made his mark yet. What is "The Enlightenment" anyway?

A futile attempt to cause sympathy....

As we all know by know, this show features a lot of drama. However, the consistently poor writing kills any sort of sympathy towards some characters (like Barry himself) who never seems to actually grow as a character, but rather makes the same mistakes over and over again.

With Leo coming back, the episode becomes tolerable enough.

Perhaps there was more to the episode that i missed, but the plot progression and the sequence of events is just so incoherent and illogical it infuriates me.

5 stars just because of Snart and Caitlyn.

    • Trivia
Siren-X and Vibe are the only known Earth-X doppelgängers of main Arrowverse characters who didn't appear in Crisis on Earth-X. Her absence on the crossover was because Katie Cassidy was mourning the death of her father, David Cassidy, during its filming.
    • Goofs
In Cisco's summary of the various Canaries, he says that Sara Lance was the first Black Canary. In fact she was never named Black Canary. She began as Canary and was later donned White Canary.
    • Quotes

Leo Snart: On Earth-X, we have a saying. "If you laugh out loud, you got to share the joke." Byproduct of living on an Earth where joy is a scarce commodity.

Caitlin Snow: It's a Post-it note from Killer Frost. It's not we talk. Talked. "Broke the thermostat again. I think it hates me."

Leo Snart: Aww, it's cute. Do you miss her?

Caitlin Snow: It's not that... it's just that... we were starting to become close lately. And I know how crazy that sounds considering we're talking about someone who actually lived inside of me.

Leo Snart: I'm on an alt-Earth transporting a human bomb with an escort that can literally run back to the future. Your story is the least crazy thing I've heard all day.

Caitlin Snow: One thing's for sure, I will miss those little notes.

Leo Snart: Alter-ego or not, it's okay to miss someone we've lost.
