    Vampires don't sparkle

Not for the faint of heart, kinda gory. Not very good episode, could have been much better if it delved deeper into good vs evil duality as many classics before. Unless you wanna draw arbitrary connections to the cult of your choice or real cannibalism/vampirism I guess what we can say about the episode is that real vampires definitely do not sparkle..

    Why all the negative reviews...

Ok, to sum up i've seen all x files up to this one. Enjoyed this, because of all the bad reviews i almost didn't watch it, the AI episode a few back was probably the only episode i've ever turned off it was that bad. This episode is about fear of getting old, manipulation and extremes people are willing to do to avoid it. Enjoyed the performances from other cast members, qwirky at times beyond the obvious blood. If you're a fan and and watched the earlier episodes i know it's not quite the same, but this was ok. As other reviewers have mentioned...'Home' comes to mind but it certainly isn't that, but then that's one of the finest...give it a try.

    If I Had a Hammer

This episode is a great homage to the Hammer horror films of the 1950s through 1970s. It is also a great story of the darkness of religion gone bad and the quest for everlasting life on earth. It is also an interesting look at legitimate faith and struggle with it. It is also a nice story of a timeless relationship between Scully and Mulder. It is a fitting episode about their relationship to begin winding up the series. It also has a good number of tongue and cheek jokes between Mulder and Scully, including one that is something that most men have done at least once with the woman they love, not noticing a change in hair style. I was really disappointed to see the number of bad reviews about the gore of the episode because it was so obvious that they didn't understand the play between this and the Hammer films. Admittedly, none of them were really great films, but they were classic horror schlock that starred some great actors, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, as well as some really beautiful actresses, even if most were B movie scream queens. Worth the watch.

Fantastic, creepy and in the end touching

This is another amazing episode in the great 11th season. The negative reviews are baffling to me.

This is creepy, funny and has one of the best scenes ever between Mulder and Scully at the end.

My only wish would have been a better opening episode to the season and we may have gotten a 12th one.

    Deliciously dark and twisted.

Mulder and Scully investigate a bizarre series of organ thefts. Their case leads them to the home of the once-famous actress Barbara Beaumont, a woman who will go to any lengths to stay young.

I think it's an episode that's actually gotten better with time. I didn't particularly care for it when I first saw it, but I feel differently after watching it with fresh eyes.

Sure, it's quite a bleak story, with some rather gory moments, but it's perfectly conceived and so imaginative: people who will go to any lengths to stay young purely for the sake of vanity. Shades of the Human Centipede, I thought.

Fiona Vroom was great as Barbara Beaumont, perhaps the star of the show, a mix of amusing and menacing; I thought she was excellent. What were those words uttered right at the end? Only time will tell, I guess.

    8/10.

    • Trivia
This is not the first time Mulder is seen wearing glasses. In Pilot (1993), Mulder is down in his office and has glasses on, plus a pocket protector. However, those were myopia glasses, while now he's wearing presbyopia ones, which mark the passage of time and how he's grown older.
    • Goofs
When Mulder and Scully leave the church they find that three steel piles were detached from the church's fence near the entrance just at the sidewalk. It makes no sense for Juliet to remove those piles right at the entrance and moreover to remove three piles just beside each other. This way everybody can easily spot the missing piles just by walking at the sidewalk next to the church and while removing them she must be extra cautious not to get spotted.

      [last lines]

Fox Mulder: Well, what are you talking about, Scully? Because I don't know if any god is listening, but I am standing right here. And I am listening. Right beside you. I'm all ears. That's my choice.

Dana Scully: [looks around church to see that they are alone, whispers something inaudible in his ear, then continues talking in normal voice as he mentally processes what she whispered] That's not my four-year-old self looking for a miracle. That's my leap of faith forward. And I'd like to do it together.

Fox Mulder: [he nods] I've always wondered how this was gonna end.

[he reaches for a taper and lights another prayer candle]
