Sir Terry Pratchett would be proud

I've been a fan of the book, but I am always skeptical with adaptations. This episode proves that the spirit and wit that I loved so much in the books is alive and well in this series.

Thank you for doing it justice

A fairly neutral Good and Evil made an oopsie

The humor is good and although we divert back and forth and other directions, the narrative is quite well constructed and relatively easy to follow.

A tribute to the book I never read.

What can I say? As someone who was surrounded by Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett readers as a teen, I didn't see what all the fuss was about.

I had been a staunch supporter of "hard" sci-fi: Asimov, Heinlein, Crichton, Lem et al ... I didn't see what all the fuss was about and found the surreal mix of humour with the "serious business" of humanity's future rather demeaning...

But then I watched Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective agency on Netflix and I suddenly realised what I had been missing all these years..

Why had I ridden my high horse? Why had I been elitist instead of inclusive? WHy had I denied myself the pleasures of Ringworld and Rincewind all these years????!

Here I was a fan of The Blackadder and Red Dwarf on TV but when it came to contemporary books I remained aloof and somehow thought that humour was discrete from intellect...

    Oh fool is me...!!

Do I still have time to make up for lost.... er.... time?

    I do indeed hope so..

My Kindle is now loaded with the bits of the 80s and 90s I missed when I was actually there!

Different take on how we're all going to because of the apocalypse kept me hooked and laughing the whole time. Would love to see more unnerving dark humor in the following episodes, or zombies. Bleh.

    Good and evil ...

    Meet to avoid apocalypse.

Nice premise. This first episode is filled with good special effects, quite an intriguing and a funny plot and a great sarcastic and acid humor used as a satire to religious "truths, ideas and beliefs".

If you feel like watching a fantasy- mysterious and fun show, Just give it a try.

When Aziraphale's book store is first seen, there is a hat on the coat hanger where he hangs his coat. This hat belonged to one the novel authors Terry Pratchett, whose dying wish to fellow author Neil Gaiman was for him to write the series.

      Crowley: Something's changed.

Aziraphale: Oh, it's a new cologne. My barber suggested it.

Crowley: Not you. I know what you smell like. The Hell Hound has found its master.

      Aziraphale: Are you sure?

Crowley: I felt it. Would I lie to you?

Aziraphale: Well, obviously. You're a demon. That's what you do.

Crowley: No, I'm not lying. The boy, whoever he is, has the dog. He's named it. It's done. He's coming into his power. We're doomed.

Aziraphale: Well, then... welcome to the end times.
