I've read reviews of people claiming this is exactly how college life is, that's a boldface lie. Unless this is how you make it, this show is no way close to life unless you purposely go out your way. The show itself started off pretty enjoyable until I realized how unlikable the main character is. Like damn ,the world revolving around her seems so interesting and she seems so dull and plastic. Yara makes this show unwatchable ,her friends seem unrelistic asf but more interesting. If this show was more about the friends and I mean moreee about the friends I'd watch it. As of now everytime I hear the main character make everything about herself, I just can't do it.
I'm half way through season 3, boy it's been hard to get this far. Zoey is such an unlikeable character, I couldn't stand her in Black-ish, she was such a brat and she's not much better in college, in fact, she's worse!
Her sense of self-importance, her self-obsession and vanity are so off-putting. Also things seem to come so easy to Zoey, not much background of her actually working hard to earn any of the big breaks she gets. She's always the victim in the stupid situations she puts herself in. I could never be friends with a Zoey.
It's the friend group that does it for me. Love Nomi, Ana and the Twins!
Yara is beautiful but not a great actress, zero depth and no emotional bandwidth, scenes of her trying to be upset or cry are just painful to watch.
At this stage, I am hate watching until Junior arrives, I cannot wait and hope he redeems this show, he is a character I could binge watch with love!

I grew up in the era of The Cosby Show and A Different World. This is NOT "A Different World." This is a show for young adults, not young kids. It doesn't hide the fact the drugs, promiscuity and binge drinking is rampant on college campus. It shows what happens when your precious darlings, who you think can do no wrong, do. I don't laugh out loud but I love the characters and how they deal with what college kids are facing today...truthfully, what they have been facing for the past 30 years minus social media.
I am a huge fan of Black-ish, which is what led me to give this show a chance. The first episode doesn't do it justice; you really need to hang in there a bit to start to care about the characters. This isn't a family show the way Black-ish is, but it deals with a lot of important issues dealt with in college and young adult life. I think it's wonderful there is a strong, real young woman who is the lead. She's not perfect, but why does she have to be? No one in life is perfect, and I appreciate the show making the lead character very relatable to young women dealing with a lot of the same issues.
This is definitely not like "A Different World". Instead, it feels like the writers did not attend college, they basically compiled the negative stereotypes college kids are labeled as & made a tv series about it. This show is shallow & basic. It's the show for college drop outs, the party kids really. "Dear White People" is a better representation & closer to the greatness of "A Different World".
