Spin the Bottle/There's a Sponge in My Soup

"Spin The Bottle", this episode features Plankton impersonating a genie to get the Krabby Patty secret formula. I admit to being confused on why the rating is so high here. I admit that the episode itself is funny, especially with how Patrick wishes he had another friend. That leads to some really great comedy. It's just that this didn't strike me as anything that unique. Well, maybe it's the next episode that people love so much. ***

"There's A Sponge In My Soup", this is the better of the episodes for me. I actually think there was some pretty funny social commentary in this episode. It features hippies living in SpongeBob's soup. I really praise this episode for how well paced it was. The previews really set up this episode but it was weird not to see Patrick until much later. I was thinking this would be a full half hour episode. Instead, they really did have everything spread out nicely for some great comedic possibilities. ***1/2
