- Roger Ebert - Host: [reviewing "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl in 3-D"] Rodriguez proudly reports that his seven year old son Racer came up with the story and co-wrote the screenplay, and the story is at a seven year old level all right, but that's okay; it's the 3-D part that sucks.

- Roger Ebert - Host: If the movie is intended for kids, it would probably delight them if they could just look at it in the ordinary way, the way we just saw it. But the 3-D is a VERY bad idea. Maybe a better idea is to wait for the 2-D DVD. Thumbs down.
- Richard Roeper - Host: Yeah, well, thumbs down as well, Roger. The 3-D is as bad as any bad 3-D movie I've seen since- y'know, anytime they hand you that crummy pair of glasses walkin' in the theater, you're like, "Oh boy, here we go." It's terrible 3-D. I think the story's terrible as well.
- Roger Ebert - Host: Yeah.
- Richard Roeper - Host: I think you're being too kind to the story. I didn't think this, this Sharkboy, Lavagirl, the teacher who becomes this disembodied head creature, all that stuff, y'know... I have a five year old goddaughter, she tells me cute little stories too, it never occurs to me to want to make them into a movie. And I think, to me, this is like a guy indulging his son.
- Roger Ebert - Host: Yeah, well, this movie certainly didn't need any more problems like 3-D. I mean, if it had been in 2-D and bright and in focus and colorful, it would've been marginally okay for younger kids. It's made as a kid's movie.
- Richard Roeper - Host: Yeah, well...
- Roger Ebert - Host: It's not a crossover movie.
- Richard Roeper - Host: ...Here you go: Here's MY 3-D:
