From the past, these back to the past episodes were great. Especially "Lisa's first word" and also "Maggie made three"
This one, well it was better than "that 90s show" where Homer was in a band and Homer was mocking Nirvana.
This is a hit and miss

In comparison with the episodes that are made now, The Simpsons of the 2000's were quite good. This episode is probably one of the most watchable of the 2010s, but it's still bad.
The reason is that in the old episodes the characters recognized that children were a drag, but at the same time a blessing. Instead, in this episode they are just a drag and you don't hear any poignant words come out of Homer and Marge's mouths. That's the problem with the current Simpsons, that the characters are kind of depressed and depressing. It's pretty disgusting.

I really wish they'd stop with the flashback episodes, especially now that they keep contradicting each other. There are a few funny parts, especially the playful opening jab at the Avengers, but most of the jokes don't land. The trials Marge and Homer go through in their careers and the finale all feel forced and empty.
(As for the weird opening from experimental animator Bill Plympton, I legitimately don't know what to think of it. It's different I tell you that.)

- TriviaThe couch gag was done by cartoonist and animator Bill Plympton and is a remake of Your Face (1987) with Homer singing the same song and many of the same animation effects and sight gags.
