This is what Pilots should be...

As a huge fan of Dexter, I was unsure whether I would like You, this episode proved me to be very wrong.

The introduction of Joe Goldberg is spectacular and seeing him balance his Good Samaritan cover-life with his inner demon has been a really fun watch.

He (like Dexter) has an inner voice that only enhances the quality of the show and makes each scene more engaging.

The humour from Joe at the most intense moment of the entire episode, the shower scene, was really well done too.

The cliffhanger at the end of this episode perfectly sets up episode 2 to be even better than this episode already was.

The writing, pacing and plot of this episode is amazing and I cannot wait to see how they take things in the show from here.

An episode full of good, very good, mysterious, thrilling events.

    You Season 1 Episode 1

Review : In reviewing this episode, I must say that from the beginning to the end of this episode is very mysterious and full of thrills. The reason why this episode is called mysterious is because there are so many moments in this episode where there is a lot of mystery in the place. The thrill is in every step of this episode. All in all, the first episode of the first season of this web series is very good.

Acting : The first episode has seen a lot of actors-actresses acting, one thing I have seen from their performances is that there is a truth hidden in their acting. Every actor-actress has judged enough with her character and has performed her acting very perfectly.

Direction : The director has read well enough in his role. He has done well enough with every actor-actress. I would like to personally thank the director for this episode because he has worked hard enough and gifted us with making a beautiful episode.

Story and Dialogue : Speaking of the story of the episode, it must be said that the story is very thrilling and very good. The storytellers of this episode have written the story of this episode with enough thrilling elements. There is a thrill in the story of this episode, there is a thrill of finding something new, there is a thrill of doing something for yourself, there is a thrill of falling in love at the first sight. Talking about the dialogue behind this, it must be said that a lot of deep, thrilling and romantic dialogue has been used in this episode. I would like to thank the storytellers and dialogue writers very much for their wonderful work.

Soundtrack and Background score : No soundtrack was used in this episode. Inside this enough attention has been paid to the background score. Background scores have been used to suit every situation. I have no hesitation in saying that extremely high quality and intense background scores have been used in this episode.

Cinematography and Editing : The cinematography in this episode is awesome, the way the actors-actresses are captured by the expression camera is really admirable. The team of editors has also done a good enough job and gifted us an episode so beautiful.

Other Departments : Speaking of lighting, the lighting is beautifully arranged in every scene, I have not seen any scene where the expressions of actors and actresses are not seen for the wrong lighting. Shot in some pretty good locations, which made the first episode of the first season of this web series good enough.

Overall Episode : Judging by all the aspects, I gave the first episode of the first season of the You Web series to nine stars out of ten stars.

Thanks so much for reading my review.

Captivating pilot hopefully it's good, I'm new to this show.

Overall, the pilot episode of this show is quite entertaining and captivating. It pulls you in with an intriguing sense of mysticism, creating a rich atmosphere that keeps your attention from start to finish. I couldn't help but draw parallels to "Dexter" with its dark themes, although this series takes a unique twist that makes it feel fresh and charming in its own right. The character development and plot twists are engaging, and I find myself eagerly anticipating what will unfold next. I'm sharing this review to reflect on whether I want to continue watching the series, and I must say, the pilot has done an excellent job of piquing my curiosity. It has left me wanting more, and I'm excited to see how the story evolves as the episodes progress.

    A Meet-Cute That Turns into a Nightmare

The first episode starts off like a cute, quirky meet-cute in a bookstore - but it turns dark fast. Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) notices Beck (Elizabeth Lail). At first, he seems charming and helpful. Then we hear his internal monologue and realize he's already digging into her life, tracking her online, and crossing every possible boundary. It goes from "aw, he likes her" to "wait, this guy is terrifying" in minutes. What's so unsettling is how normal Joe looks on the outside. He's polite, soft-spoken, even considerate. But inside, he's convinced that his stalking is for Beck's own good. The voice-over drives home how self-righteous and delusional he is. One of the most interesting things about this episode is how it nails the creep factor of modern tech. Joe doesn't need much - some Instagram posts, an address photo - to invade her life. It's a subtle but sharp commentary on how easy it is to overshare and how entitlement plays into this kind of behavior. It's a solid critique of the "nice guy" trope turned sinister. Joe isn't a cartoon villain - he's believable. Performance-wise, Penn Badgley nails it. He makes you almost want to root for Joe. Beck, on the other hand, feels a little underwritten in this episode. She's smart and ambitious, but the show leans hard on her being naïve and insecure. It works for the story, but I wish there was more depth to her reactions. As a pilot, though? It's strong. It sets up the tone- equal parts romantic drama and psychological thriller, with a bit of dark humor woven in. It also raises uncomfortable questions about how much privacy we give up without thinking - and how "love" can be weaponized. Creepy, addictive, and a little too real at times. If you're into thrillers that make you squirm and question your own instincts about people, this is a great start.
