Terrific job by the writer-director and the whole cast on this fine indie. This movie has some fun sending up my hometown of L.A. And though I love Los Angeles, hey, we deserve a little skewering. But the film also deftly mixes drama and suspense as well. The end result is a very entertaining, delightfully fun movie with just a dash of edge. I loved it!
This film has garnered a lot of attention and awards at indie film festivals in the U.S. and abroad. I caught it at the Manhattan Film Festival last spring, and thought it was great. A set of quirky characters, and engaging plot, and just enough laughs to make it fun. Don't miss it, I'm hoping it will be widely available via streaming soon.
What a great film, especially for an indie..interesting story that kept me hooked until the last frame, great cast playing cool and quirky characters in wonderful performances, well directed and photographed. Smartly written tone that goes from funny to dark without missing a beat.....highly recommend!!!
Closure is a unique indie film -- part off-beat comedy and part twist on the old LA based noir film. I seek out indie films like these because they bring different perspectives and different takes on genres. It always helps too when you see all those film festival laurels on the poster to know that it's going to be a good use of your time. Apparently the film won several awards too. The story is funny and engaging. It follows Nina, whose mother recently died, as she tries to track down her missing sister and encounters a bunch of unusual LA residents along the way. It's subtly absurdist and in many ways is a charming fish out of water comedy. I think it's definitely worth a watch.
Without giving away any spoilers, the film is about a woman who travels to LA to find her missing sister. Sounds simple enough, but in true La La Land fashion, things just get weirder and weirder. The writing is fantastic, and the performances from the entire cast are brilliant- especially Catia Ojeda. Loved the movie from start to finish- highly recommend!
