Loss of a Favorite Character

This is a response to a dirty bomb set off in DC. There are some rash acts that will still be sizzling when the dust clears in the next episode. I agree that there is too much action for a political show and that they are drawing on the ghost of Jack Bauer for more violence. What is happening is this is no longer a show about politics but about potential catastrophe, week after week.

Trivia
This is not the first time Maggie Q and Dillon Casey worked together. They crossed paths in Nikita (2010) which also happens to be filmed in the same city as Designated Survivor, Toronto .

Goofs
On discovering the container, the technicians claim to be measuring radiation of "900 CPM", counts per minute. That is 15 Bq, the amount of radiation that an ordinary banana gives off. It is not enough as an indicator that an illicit source of radiation has been present, and not enough to characterize it with a hand-held instrument.
