I watched the original series and I did enjoy it, but I always felt it was a little bit overrated. I do feel Gen Q is generally more surface level than the original. The plots are predictable and the show in general is a little underwhelming. I hate to say this, but I find the actress that plays Finley to be borderline unwatchable. Her acting has the subtlety of a hammer. That being said, I think most the acting in the series is heavy handed, so fault could lie with the director.
Overall it's watchable, although sometimes it doesn't really hold my attention. But it's fine if you've run out of stuff to watch.

I love that we get a new portion of L word. Overall very presently surprised over how good it is, but still a lot, of room for improvement.
They did it and they did it right. They all back with new generation, smooth and nice comback.
I was a fan of the original show. This new show was disappointing, to say the least. It just doesn't work. Too much emphasis on the implausible running for mayor thing, some of the acting was terrible, and Finley is just annoying. And they are all rich, except for Finley. It just ring true to any of my life experience. And Bette was never one of my favorite characters, anyway.
Shane is, of course, still hot.
And why are all of them wearing too much makeup?
And where's the fun? And why is Leisha Hailey so skinny? She was so cute!
In all, it was a disjointed, boring-in-spots effort.
This ended as though a second season is coming, but I doubt I'll watch it, unless I'm desperate.

Loved it! Fantastic having Shane, Alice and Bette back together, my heart is so happy! Didn't think I was going to take to the new generation so quickly, but I already adore each and every one of them and am super excited to watch this season infold.

- TriviaKate Moennig was also a supporting character in the series, Ray Donovan (2013). In her character, Lena's, final appearance, she is seen boarding a plane to move to Los Angeles, a nod to Moennig's exit from the series to reprise her role as Shane. Weeks later, in the series premiere of The L Word: Generation Q, Moennig's character makes her first on-screen appearance exiting an airplane in Los Angeles, which she has just recently moved back to.
