    A very well-written INSTANT FAVORITE!

There's so much good to say about this episode, but given that I can't stop geeking out over this one particular scene, I'll just say this: The fight at the end of the ep? It makes it an //ABSOLUTE// MUST-WATCH! IT'S JUST THAT AWESOME!

Heavy on the Politics, but Very Entertaining!

What an intriguing episode! Once again, politics is at a forefront in Black Lightning. "Three Sevens: The Book of Thunder" picks it up a notch. This is the episode we truly see how the law enforcement do NOT like Black Lightning. The police department was mobilized to take him down. If you remember from earlier in the season, Jefferson was stopped by these white cops. Can you imagine what it would be like if he was unmasked? Anissa took her superhero abilities to another level when she defaced a Confederate statue. This provided some excellent character development. Watching Anissa develop her superhero powers and use them for the greater good has been a joy to behold. Whether or not you believe politics have a place in a superhero show, the show's creator Salim Akil obviously has things to say and he does not mince his words.

Jefferson uses this episode to hunt down his father's killer, which we know is Tobias. With Tobias receiving pressure (a gift of Albino bone dust from Lady Eve), it might be in his best interest to make sure Black Lighting is dead for good. Peter Gambi, still being the mysterious man he is, decides to recruit Lynn to assist him. Whose side is he really on? Anissa staged a protest regarding a Confederate statue. Jennifer has some important decisions to make with Khalil. She loves him, but can she really be with him with his bitterness and motivation to join Tobias's team?

The wheels are turning. I'm very interested to see what will happen as the season progresses. Many episodes are not as politically strong as this particular one. It seemed to bother some people, but it did not bother me. These messages, delivered through these striking images, are truthful and powerful. If you want action, there is some excellent action towards the end that does not disappoint.

    My Grade: A-

More about racial tactics than super hero. Don't like political views be shoved down throats.

After only watching season 1 to ep 6, I have heard "black lives matter" just as much as "black lightning". Not against the movement, but def don't want it shoved down my throat while watching a super hero show. I can't take anymore obvious views after ep 6. Lost total interest. Good luck black lightning...

[a battered and bloody Joey Toledo limps into Tobias' office]

Tobias Whale: What the hell happened to you?

Joey Toledo: I just fought Black Lightning. I mean, one more minute and I would have killed him, I swear. I mean, something's wrong with his head. He looked half-dead.

Tobias Whale: So, why didn't you finish him?

[Tobias grabs Joey by the throat and lifts him up in the air]

Joey Toledo: I tried, but I was all on my own. He-he trashed my gun and I couldn't take him. I tipped our guy in the department.

      [Tobias drops him]

Tobias Whale: There was a time you could depend on white folks to be professional. Nowadays, white boys just as lazy and shiftless as the brothers.

Syonide: Tori's protection team checked in on schedule.

      Tobias Whale: Hmm...

      Syonide: All is well.

      Joey Toledo: Tori's under protection?

Tobias Whale: Lady Eve sent me powder from ground albino bones, trying to mess with my head.

Joey Toledo: Or issue a warning.

Tobias Whale: Hmm. Yeah, and you're bleeding on my floor.

      Joey Toledo: Sorry, boss.

Tobias Whale: Make sure we got a crew in lockup on standby and let me know as soon as the cops get him. Black Lightning doesn't live out the night.
