Very worthwhile documentary
Among Neighbors is a powerful film that tells an incredible story that has been unknown before now. With a beautiful use of animation, eyewitness accounts, and historical artifacts, this is a history lesson brought to life.
This well-made documentary took 10 years to make as more and more dots connected during the filmmaking, culminating in a fascinating story.

Watch it!
I was trying to leave a review which somehow disappeared due to a glitch on the imbd system. Sorry to say I can not reproduce it, so I will just say that the story is very compelling and richly textured. The magical realism is terrific to tell the story. Liked the use of animation.
So hard to believe the things that happened while filming that brought this story to a heart rending closure. A very talented filmmaker, and please realize this film is a tribute to some Polish citizens who stood up to a sad event in their past. The Polish people have suffered and their legacy is the same as the Jewish people who became part of this town. Their blood is intermingled with their history.
Every town has things that go wrong. This is by no means an attack on the Polish nation. It should be seen as a triumph of people over WW2. Long live Poland and the Jewish people who returned.

Touching and thought provoking
What does it mean to be human? How do we humans act under pressure and at difficult times?
See the film and the different alternative answers, they are all in each and every one of us.
A touching story and creative story telling only reality can bring us viewers. The combination of animation is any thing but brilliant.
I watched the film with tears and fluctuations of fillings. From sad to angry, from suspense to relief.
An interesting way for people that now about the holocaust to learn more and deepen their prespective,as well as for those that have little knowledge but want to learn about the holocaust and the human condition.
Highly recommended !!!

brilliant new documentary of creative style and unique historical perspective. a must watch to really understand the second world war and the holocaust.
A remarkable magic of documenting work that took over ten years and shows the unexpected remedy of two people who refuse to forget. Pieces come together only through the skill of the film-maker contrary to the forces of deniel and conformity and old age.
Elegant combination of animation and live shots which form a moving blend of past and present. The absence of material from the period says everything about the attempt to hide, to forget. But there is no forgetting thanks to this film.
It is a testement to deep darkness that was in peoples hearts against the current wave of history-editing. Must watch!

Beautifully executed, potent documentary
This is a must see. Among Neighbors is a beautifully executed, potent documentary-intimate, thought-provoking, and profoundly relevant to today's complicated narrative regarding the history and lived experience of the Jewish people. It is both tragic and heart-opening while offering a nuanced, human perspective that invites reflection long after the credits roll.
