Best so far, but I'm still watching for the first time.

I loved this episode. Not to say everything up to this has not been hysterical, but the timing, script, and scenes were top notch. Definitely a top 5 pic for me.

    Absolutely perfect

Never leave reviews - but this episode. A beautiful hour of television. 10 stars - congrats to the people who made this

    Most Marvelous

One of the best episodes of comedic "television" ever.

    Great show!

While I enjoy the family dynamic and character development, Tony Shalhoub steals the show - in every episode. I laugh out loud at his delivery. Please give him more lines!

    • Trivia
The play that Benjamin and Midge see is "The Legend of Lizzie," which did in fact run on Broadway the same year as this episode takes place. The scene strives for authenticity in its recreation of the facade of the now-demolished Adelphi Theatre and reprints of the original playbill, though ultimately it is for naught, as the play opened on February 9, 1959 and closed the following day after only two performances. This conflicts with the time period of the episode, which takes place in summer.
    • Goofs
"The Legend of Lizzie" opened on Broadway at the 54th Street Theatre on February 9, 1959 and closed the following night after a total of two performances. So it was not running in the summer when Midge comes back to New York City from the Catskills. The play was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Scenic Design and including in the cast was William Daniels as Assistant D. A. Cooper. Anne Meacham played Lizzie Borden.
