Hollow Knight

Great game, challenging (annoyingly so at times) but rewarding. Beautiful to explore, story that doesn't intrude on the gameplay but keeps you informed. It's so very close to the overall vibe that super Metroid has, which is high praise. I've gotten stressed out with this game from time to time but really it's only because I'm being impatient and rushing in a game that wants you to learn and plan and take your time. My criticisms are limited. I don't like that if you die, it can be quite a long distance from the nearest bench back to where you were to go kill your ghost and get your points back. But I can't think of another original platformer released in the last 5 years that's quite this good.

I added this game to my list of best games ever made. There is not one even slightly negative thing o can say about it. Everything is balanced so perfectly. Gameplay, art, music, story.... It's truly beautiful.

Hollow Knight is a beautifully crafted Metroidvania that plunges players into the haunting and mysterious world of Hallownest. As the titular silent knight, players explore an intricate, interconnected kingdom teeming with secrets, challenging enemies, and captivating lore. The hand-drawn art and atmospheric soundtrack create an immersive experience, perfectly complementing the game's melancholic tone. The combat is tight and satisfying, offering a mix of nail-biting precision and fluid movement, while the expansive map encourages exploration and rewards curiosity with hidden abilities and upgrades.

Although the game's difficulty can be unforgiving, the sense of accomplishment after overcoming its many trials is immensely rewarding.

This game is damn brilliant. I remember buying the game and being a bit uncertain about it, as I had never played a metroidvania before and only a small number of platformers. This game destroyed my expectations. It has a brilliant combat system, smooth platforming, a killer soundtrack and lore for those who want it. It's difficult enough to be challenging but not so difficult that it makes we want to kill myself. There's still challenging encounters for those who want it and I can't imagine any way it could be better. This has managed to become my favorite game of all time and manages to make fighting a dung beetle fun. 10/10, now stop reading the damn reviews and go play it, go on, it's too good not to!
