Small town crime or big city homicide?

The premise of this episode unfortunately is quite flawed. It paints "German Village, Ohio" as an idyllic small Ohio town when, in fact, it is situated on the south side of Columbus, one of Ohio's largest cities. German Village is not a separate small town as portrayed here, it is simply a neighborhood within Columbus; just south of the downtown.

Anyone who lives in or near central Ohio knows this about German Village: It's a very expensive and trendy area, with its historic brick homes selling for very high prices. It's popular with people who move in from larger cities and has an eclectic, upscale set of restaurants, bars, etc. Again; not some typical idyllic Ohio small town. The fact is that German Village also is adjacent to some of the roughest neighborhoods in the city, and it is no stranger to crime - far from it.

In that respect, the producers have taken great license here, which calls into question the accuracy of other aspects of this episode.

    Investigation

I realize this happened a while ago. However, I am amazed as to the investigation in this case as well as others I see. I could not figure out why the investigation never went to the receipts of who did work for her. It took years for them to look at them. She owned a lot of property, and of course she would need work done on her property. Well, it wasn't until approximately five or so years that went by, they looked into receipts on people who did work for her at the time of her death.
