A Fresh and Heart-warming Series about South Korean Police Force

Every summer, the South Korean television industry puts forth the best and most promising shows and crosses its fingers that the public falls in love. Of course, not every show can be a surefire win; it can often take weeks before a show hits its stride, or they may just lose their momentum and drop off altogether. Luckily, this show is the one that makes the public fall in love more and more after each of its episode. Instead of the serious, bleak, and depressing atmosphere that recent South Korean police or detective series such as "Signal" or "Secret Forest", "Live" is very refreshing, heart-warming, and realistic. Just as the title shows us, this series does not heavily focus on police corruption or the police force's long, troubled history of misconduct toward the community it exists to serve. Instead, it paints a vivid, detailed picture of the police's daily struggles and how they overcome those day-to-day difficulties to fulfill their missions and somehow make their lives less miserable. These cops have to live their lives right, so they can help others live right. Again, this show does contain very optimistic underlying messages. It is relatable, especially for people who are in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. Moreover, what makes this show stand out is the acting of its cast, especially that of Bae Jung Woo and Jung Yu Mi, two of the most reliable actors in South Korean movie industry - Chungmunro. The soundtrack is awesome. The camerawork is good, too. All in all, this is one worth-watching show.

One of the best series I have ever watched

I had been watching a lot of K-drama and comedy series on Netflix and this one popped up on my recommendation list. I started watching the first episode and while the acting was excellent, the episode was a little slow and I wasn't hooked. That changed rapidly towards the end of the first episode. I ended up binge watching the entire series over a few days, often giving up sleep so I could watch "just a few minutes more". When I was done, I went back and re-watched a couple of episodes. Then I went back and binge watched the entire series a second time. This show is simply that good. I didn't want it to end.

The show follows the lives of the members of local police station as they deal with issues while on duty and in their everyday lives. The stories are very well developed and the acting is excellent. As the show progresses, the characters grow in depth and you find yourself becoming emotionally attached to them and caring about their outcomes. But be warned, there are some gut-wrenching moments in this show and there were several times I was brought to tears.

As other reviewers have stated, this show needs a season 2.

Best TV Drama of the Year. (Korea)

Watched IRIS on NETFLIX, it was great. Now I'm watching 'LIVE' Korean police drama at its best. 18 episodes total, l'm on episode 15. Wish episode 1 would bore me to death, instead i'm hooked on this show. Great story comes great acting from cast members. This is NOT spoiler alert, LIVE will make you laugh, feel sad and cry along with the show Hope there will be 'LIVE' season 2. Great original soundtracks and lastly, I also wish that SUBTITLE can display a little longer on screen. I am now big fan of Yu-mi Jung, don't tell my wife that.

2 thumbs,5 stars in my opinion!

I was never much a fan of T.V dramas because of waiting until the next episode or season when a story line was not finished. Then I watched "Live" and my whole world was turned, the emotional roller coaster that this series brings to viewers, even an hardcore people, will be brought to tears. The cast did a great job of bringing there characters to life, which you must also commend the directors and producers. I'm not going to ruin it and tell you any spoilers, all I can say is that you really need to watch it, I really hope there's another season in the making. Make sure you stack up on the tissues, because It will make you laugh and will make you cry, believe it when I say it's worth your time.

    visually, aurally and emotionally stunning

Live is a fantastic drama, which is equally devastating and inspiring to watch. This is a very realistic drama, and it doesn't hold back to show the brutal realities of the police force. The direction is incredible, the character development is compelling and the acting is amazing. The storytelling was excellent, the overarching plots & story arcs as well as episodic conflicts were well paced. This drama truly gives you a new perspective of life.
