I remember hearing about Andrew Cunanan when I was a teenager. I never knew he was a serial killer & on the FBI's 10 most wanted list. I knew about the Versace murder, but none of the rest. I learned a lot by watching this series. He was a very strange character. Mentally ill but brilliant at the same time. A total freak show. I spent a lot of time on Google fact checking while watching the show. I liked the way they skipped around back and forth throughout the series. It was put together very well. Very interesting story. Give it a watch..8 stars
Can I lock you in there. You sure can. Is what I would say, take my keys. Sir I have children - pow. This Cunanan is vile beyond belief. I truly don't think there is a word that can describe him. So with that said...the actors receive A+++++++ . They were so encompassing and believable. They sure did the job asked of them. I can't wrap my brain around such hate. I just am speechless.
I started watching the first 3 episodes and was getting increasingly frustrated by this format of jumping back in time every new episode, I'd recorded the whole series and after reading other reviews I thought I'd rather watch the story unfold in the normal time frame. Whoever thought of showing the story the way they did needs a jolly good talking to. My advice is watch the episodes 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 9 in that order forget that that it's called "The Assassination of Gianni Versace", in fact get a sticker and write "The Life, Loves and Deaths of Gianni Versace's Assassin" and stick that on the box, then it'll all make a lot more sense and be a great deal more watchable.
'The Assasination of Gianni Versace' doesn't in fact tell us very much about the murdered designer; everything it does say is flattering, although his family gets a rougher treatment. But really, this is the story of his murderer, serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Serial killers are thankfully rare and arguably over-attended to in the media, but Cunanan turns out to be pretty interesting: someone who convinced themselves that if they could only self-improve enough they would, and be entitled to, be able to be anything they wanted. The style of the series is glossy and somewhat wooden, and a shorter, more naturalistic (and chronological) telling of Cunanan's tale would arguably have been better, though it would have lacked the hook of his almost accidental connection to his last, and most famous, victim. As it is, it's still compelling, although a little heavy-handed in places.
Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan makes your skin crawl and that should tell you something about his talent ! Watch it for this young actor's phenomenal portrayal of a psychotic killer.
