An opening establishing shot shows the Houses of Parliament with the superimposed date "1965". Parliament's Yorkshire stone has only been seen in its original yellow/golden colour since the extensive restoration which took place from 1981 to 1994. In the 1960s and '70s the Houses of Parliament were almost black.
Mr. Thorpe is seen driving a Rover P5B car in 1965. However, this model started production in 1967.
In a scene set in 1974 the caravan Scott is living in bears a T number plate, that only became available in 1978.
When Mr. Bessell checks into the Dublin hotel, there is a push-button (touch-tone) telephone clearly visible on the reception desk. The touch-tone phone was only initially released in a small U.S. test market in November 1963 and wasn't widely available until well into the 1970s.
