    Jonathan Frakes deserves an Emmy.

Easily the most powerful episode of DISCO and one of the top 5 episodes of "Star Trek," in any incarnation. Mr. Frakes needs to direct more features, immediately.

I want to give it a ten

In all ways it's a great episode with an emotional finale.

But there is one "But". Who is Airiam? Why should I care about her? She was almost non-existent in previous episodes. It takes time to bond with character, but I don't feel anything about her. At least there should be an episode in first season to tell us about main characters. There is also a lot of questions to how she was infected? If she was a computer, it's OK, but she was a human before. So how much of a computer is she now? How much of a human?

Direction of that episode is great, but screenwriters do not deserve anything for such poor story of a character.

I am an anti STD but this episode with just 1 story to follow hooks me

Finally one episode i can follow and understand without bothering about what happened few episodes before or the main story being interrupted by many sub-plots that i don't care because too many sub-stories to follow like in many previous episodes..

Plus on this episode the story was good WITHOUT MANY sub-sub-sub plots, just a straight episode introducing the cyborg as well, i am sad for the end, but it was well written.

    so... it was good!

I hope you will continue this way.

    Treachery

Quite a bit is explained in this episode, where Admiral Cornwell has Pike and his crew journey to the headquarters of Section 31 for a showdown. The viewer is made aware of treachery by one of the crew members, and by the segment's climax, Burnham must save the day with a fatal decision: the destruction of a commander crewmate versus allowing an Artificial Intelligence to obtain a massive transfer of data that could facilitate the end of all sentient life in the galaxy.

Substantial tension is built up in Michelle Paradise's script, and there's plentiful interplay between the major characters, including Spock and Burnham. Also included is a scary battle of the Discovery versus illegal land mines and a considerable raising of the stakes inherent in our intrepid crew fighting for survival.

At last a true star trek episode!

After one and a half season, I can at last say that this is indeed Star Trek! I don't know if it was the writers or the directors - it was not the actors - but I am feeling that is at last starting to get its footing! Now it only remains to get rid of that ridiculus spore drive and give the rest of the crew the chance to play some part in the story, as they did in this episode, and we are in business!

    • Trivia
The earliest mention of the game "Kadis-kot" in the Star Trek chronology. It first appeared as a game enjoyed by Seven Of Nine, Naomi Wildman and Neelix in Star Trek: Voyager (1995).
    • Goofs
Admiral Cornwell states that Admiral Patar is a member of the "Logic Extremists." The Logic Extremists are a known terrorist organization on Vulcan. A known terrorist would not be allowed to hold any military position, much less one with such a high level of authority. It makes no sense for her to even be a member of Starfleet, as the Logic Extremists' main operating theory is that humans and other outside influences are detrimental to Vulcan and Vulcans. They push for Vulcan to withdraw from the Federation and isolate itself from the galactic community. Starfleet is the defense and exploratory service of the Federation and is comprised largely of humans and other alien species.

[Burnham has taken out a game of 3D chess]

Spock: I am attempting to understand why the Red Angel chose me to expose a threat to the entire galaxy. And your solution is to play chess?

Michael Burnham: When the Red Angel showed you visions you couldn't reconcile, it caused you to question your ability to examine the world logically. What better way to return to logic than via the game that represents it?

Spock: It is arrogant of you to assert that my present manner of thinking requires fixing at all.

Michael Burnham: It is arrogant of you to assert it doesn't. Or you're just afraid you'll lose.

Spock: All right, Michael. Let's play chess.
