Summary
Reviewers say 'The Peripheral' captivates with its premise and special effects, highlighting the visual aspects and futuristic setting. Lead actors' performances are praised, yet the show faces criticism for convoluted plotlines, slow pacing, and excessive dialogue. Some find characters underdeveloped and the story difficult to follow. Viewer frustration is noted over the show's cancellation despite positive reception, which erodes trust in streaming services.

Finally, a believable, well-acted, and intelligent sci-fi show that doesn't attempt to keep single-celled brains entertained with gratuitous sex and gore scenes.
The story offers a backdrop of relatable personal struggles and futuristic visions that modern viewers can relate to, as we all navigate the real and digital worlds to varying degrees.
The characters are well-written, and I appreciate that none of the actors are widely known stars. They bring fresh faces and new talent to the screen; you don't know what to expect, which is a good thing.
Overall, I enjoyed this show, watched it twice for better understanding, and was looking forward to Season 2. But, of course, it was cancelled. With so much rubbish being produced, they couldn't let us have one decent new show. I'll save money and cancel my Prime subscription.

I just finished the first season of The Peripheral and it was so much better than I was expecting. I never read the books, or even heard of them for that matter, so I had no idea what the story was about. Chloe Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor are both great in their lead roles. This is a sci-fi series that's both original and exciting. The storytelling will keep you interested and make you actually care about what happens to these characters. You do have to pay attention because it could get a little complicated but not bad. The visuals are also great. You can tell they put some money into this show. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
This was such a cool, amazing show with fantastic performances and acting HIGHLY recommend watching and again, PLEASE REBOOT AND BRING THIS SHOW BACK!!!!!!😁 Chloë Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor bring the next level of acting in this futuristic time series. I was sooooo impressed on how much work they put into the sets, locations, the "haptics" from all the special forces soldiers (which were definitely a squad) because you'll see how tight they are and how they use special tactics and equipment and are all in sync. I have no idea why they only released 1 season I immediately watched it again when I finished it!
It's losing me with each episode honestly.
It started strong and I was really intrigued to see where things were going to venture to, but the last few episodes it just feels like the series has got itself stuck in a "limbo" where nothing is really happening and events keep repeating themselves; it's a real drag.
If it is building toward something I hope it gets there fast because I'm about ready to drop this series. I like a slow-burner so long as the story is actually going somewhere, but The Peripheral just feels like it's out of ideas already.
If it carries on with the constant "intense conversations" and attempted murders whilst the storyline remains in its seemingly never-ending stagnant position, then I give up.

This is one of my all-time favourite series, I hate that Amazon cancelled this show. I still do not understand their reasoning for cancelling this show, I believe it would have become a cult franchise, if it had been given the chance.
Hey AMAZON, It's not too late to change that and do season 2. I know this thing was popular, look at the awards for quality it was given. This is my vote as a consumer and Prime Subscriber.
The show has mystery, intrigue, and action, with enough Science Fiction to make it super interesting. An easy to follow story line, and some nasty protagonists to make our current-day heroes real heroes.
