Breathe Breana

Breathe Breana is an inspiring documentary. It tells the story of a young women with cystic fibrosis who, despite all of her challenges, dreams of becoming a champion tandem surfer. It's remarkable tale of perseverance and it might just change your perspective a little bit. The film is also well crafted -- so compliments to the filmmaking team. I think many of us are getting tired of the reality shows on television, or the depressing news every night, but Breathe Breana has an important and inspiring real-life story to showcase that I think everyone should watch for themselves. Highly recommend.

I'm on a roll right now, finding inspiration in sports documentaries. And I'm not even much of an athlete! But you don't need to be an athlete or even that into sports to find inspiration in this doc about champion surfer Breana Schroeder. I mean, seriously... if she can deal with the difficulties of cystic fibrosis and still rise to a supreme challenge, surely I can meet my daily challenges. That's the kind of inspiration you can draw from a film like this.

This movie is so skillfully and humanly crafted. And it made me care so much. I just loved Breana and this film!

I thought it was a very sensitive, important and truely touching piece of work! A real eye opener on this terrible genetic disorder but yet the story of Breana shakes you up! Gives you strength. What an exemple! Bravo to the filmmakers! The structure and style - although very personal - made me think of the work of Terrence Mallic. What a wonderful use of the music, too. ANd of course, BRAVO to this fabulous fondation! A truely profonde and important film!

Breathe Breana is the true story about a surfer with cystic fibrosis who won't give up on her dreams. It carries a different style for a documentary that worked for this storyline. It's a powerful story and should be a documentary on everybody's list.

On one hand, Breana Schroeder is a young woman who carries through life the realities of Cystic Fibrosis. On the other, we see her poised to become a champion at her chosen craft of tandem surfing. The wonderful documentary "Breathe Breana" fills the gap between these seemingly dichotomous extremes, with its young namesake providing an inadvertent lesson for us all: How we navigate our days here is of our own choosing -- best to find a goal rather than an excuse, then proceed to obliterate the target through sheer force of will.

Inspiration naturally radiates from Breana in this expertly assembled human interest story. She perseveres. It's true that we're drawn to stories of resilience authored by people of all backgrounds, yet when actionable leadership is provided by a young person, it exudes a heavy, dimensional poignancy all its own. This is an expertly made film, blending the focused emergence of this hero with terrific firsthand accounts and a visceral musical score that lends further gravitas to her underlying attitudes and very real achievements.

Kudos to the creative team for finding the right way to frame her championship story in a way we can apply to our own challenges, real and imagined. "Breathe Breana" is told in an exceedingly thoughtful way that meets the same high bar its subject matter sets in her own daily life. Recommended many times over. - (Was this review of use to you?
