If I watch a romantic film, I want to feel something. This was a fairly pretty formulaic second chance type romance (widow who loved husband moving on with life) He and she start off finding each other annoying and irritating and it goes from there. Even at the high point (as always in romance - there is that darkest hour is just before dawn moment) I just didn't care. Zero feels. Zero romance. Decent acting from Mr. Ferguson but Ms. Gifford - well, an actress she is not. As mentioned by others - fabulous scenery.
Then Came You is a great movie for fans of Craig Ferguson who also like simple, heartwarming stories. It's got some great lines, and the two stars have good chemistry together with their sparring, distinct personalities. It's not a fancy/glossy/polished movie, and it has a few awkward moments, but in it's heart it is about two older widowed people who meet, really enjoy spending time together, and learn from each other about what things are really important for their lives. There are a lot of good moments in this film. And of course, there is Scottish countryside, for Scotland lovers. It's a quite, quirky romance and well worth watching.
Lots of little surprises, fun things, serious things. We really enjoyed it! Perhaps it more appreciated by older, every-day kind of people. But it does have some wisdom, some love, some strength. And the creativity in it is a real heart-warmer!
When I saw this in Prime, I knew I wanted to watch it because... Craig Ferguson.
This movie is a bit of a removal from what we'd normally expect from Ferguson because of his decidedly bawdy nature in other shows/movies he's done. But, he definitely shines in this movie as the slightly sad, even more slightly curmudgeonly inn owner.
The one weak spot in this entire movie is Kathie Lee Gifford. Her acting skills are virtually non-existent and her delivery of her lines is childish and poor. Every move she made in the movie was wooden and too much. Subtlety is certainly not part of her personality.
As I watched this movie, I simply couldn't imagine the two of them getting together in real life. Had there been anyone else in the lead, it would have worked much better. A truly nice story was ruined by Kathie Lee.

This is not a movie that was ever going to go over with movie snobs aka IMDB users lol!
Chances are you will see this for free on a streaming service. It's worth a watch if you are 50 plus years old.
Great scenery in Scotland that will make you want to visit.
Kathy Lee is a decent actress and pairs well with CF.
Go ahead and give it a try.

Howard: I do wanted to show you something.
Annabelle Wilson: I might have seen it.
Howard: No, no, no, no. Not that. You'd be sick at the sight of that by the mornin'.
