Not an Oscar movie, but humorous, charming, and thought-provoking.
Lots of little surprises, fun things, serious things. We really enjoyed it! Perhaps it more appreciated by older, every-day kind of people. But it does have some wisdom, some love, some strength. And the creativity in it is a real heart-warmer!
Nice little story, really bad acting
When I saw this in Prime, I knew I wanted to watch it because... Craig Ferguson.
This movie is a bit of a removal from what we'd normally expect from Ferguson because of his decidedly bawdy nature in other shows/movies he's done. But, he definitely shines in this movie as the slightly sad, even more slightly curmudgeonly inn owner.
The one weak spot in this entire movie is Kathie Lee Gifford. Her acting skills are virtually non-existent and her delivery of her lines is childish and poor. Every move she made in the movie was wooden and too much. Subtlety is certainly not part of her personality.
As I watched this movie, I simply couldn't imagine the two of them getting together in real life. Had there been anyone else in the lead, it would have worked much better. A truly nice story was ruined by Kathie Lee.

Not so good
Not a great plot. Not a great script. Not great acting. But the scenery is incredible. Treat it as a travelogue for Scotland.
Do something fun for 2 hours and bypass this vanity project.
Scenery was outstanding, Scotland is so beautiful. The movie, written by KLG, was terrible. A romantic movie with one kiss in the whole movie? Not realistic. Craig Ferguson, the male lead, did a good job but, KLG, the female lead, cannot act. It was uncomfortable to watch her realizing her acting hasn't improved with age.
When the actors are having fun and enjoying themselves it is a joy to watch.
What a great location for this movie it added to the obvious fun they were having. I enjoyed watching Then Came You. The comfort they showed acting in these rolls that Gifford wrote was really well played.
