Tv show versus books on my

You would think after almost 4 seasons people could let go of the books and just enjoy the show as is. Constant comparisons is tiring. I stopped at 3 books because I wanted to have new enjoyable experience s without the books interfering with my viewing time. So much better being in the dark. This is a different way to really enjoy the acting.

    DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

Enjoyed episode! Very well done. Bree's entire meeting with Ian..SO SPECIAL. Ian surely wanted to spend more time but felt the urgency for Bree to move on. Missed Bree meeting Jenny and the encounter with L'Heery one of the best parts in the book. Laura being unavailable presented challenges but they did a great job. L'Heery's kindness soon turned into threat..revealing her true colors. Brave Joanie to the rescue...young but seen too much of her Mother's nastiness. Ship scenes with Stephen Bonnet and Roger were good. Flashback, split scenes excellent. Especially liked last scene with Bree visualizing Frank prior to voyage.

Different from the book, fantastic on its own

Look, I'm a book nerd. That being said, I've watched enough adaptations to understand when things need to be cut/ altered. In this case, I think they did an amazing job keeping the story going without introducing 20 new characters(which would have eaten up a lot of time and gotten very confusing). This has been my favorite episode so far this season, it's nice to see the pieces moving into place and for us book readers, you can see that the writers are being very intentional about what they're doing.

    A bit disappointing

This simply doesn't make any sense! Why on Earth did they have to differ from the book? It's nice to see Joanie, and I'm in love with all the scenes about Frank and Bonnet and Roger and Brianna, but who the hell thought that giving Laoghaire this much screen time instead of giving it to the Lallybroch-people was a good idea?! I would have loved to see Brianna in Lallybroch with Jenny and Young Jamie and so on. I didn't care to see her with Laoghaire for half an hour, and then spending only two minutes in Lallybroch, and only with Ian. I give it a 10/10 because of Frank, and because they didn't alter Bonnet's character, and because Roger has finally gotten a little bit more screen time. But I hate the way they swapped the order of Brianna and Roger's arrival.

    • Trivia
This is the first time we see Roger clean-shaven, which was important as beards were not very common in the 1700s.
    • Goofs
At the beginning of the episode, we see Brianna making a sandwich and cutting it in half. When she unwraps it later to eat it, it is a whole sandwich, not cut in half.
