This film is fun, light hearted and entertaining. It features a lot of jokes, and lots of eye candy too. I had to grab myself some chocolate cookies, after watching the bake sale scene!
OK. I came for the eye candy and was not disappointed. What I did not expect was some good comedy and a twist at the end. The young men are not boys but genuinely good actors doing a good job at comedy while wearing a towel. Try that to see how challenging this act is. I know how quickly our tribe can dismiss our own work and feel sad that the standards set for this kind of film are set so high or ...... well you know what I mean. Let's not take ourselves so seriously. This funny little film would be a good start. And yes, romance enters the picture as well. Thanks to the people who made this.
'Steam Room Stories: The Movie' is another perfect example why I generally don't like gay comedies. From the script to the acting to the dialogue, this was just terrible. This was your typical bad acting simple premise gay movie, much in the vein of the 'Eating Out' series.
Nothing here is believable and it looks more like a high school production. None of the actors can honestly be considered serious actors, surely? I'm not even going to highlight the bad moments or analyze this film, it was just such a bad script.
Rather put the film on mute and watch it for the delightful eye candy instead....

I've been a fan of JC for some time, because he takes rom com staples and converts them into LGBTQ friendly stories. And with Steam Room Stories the movie, he's done it again. I think it's so important because it brings an audience in who may never go and see an LGBTQ film and makes it accessible to them, much like Love Simon did. How many times have we seen this kind of humor reserved only for an Adam Sandler type film and the audience that would normally watch them? Yes it's absurdist, but that's the point. It's got the spirit of Cry Baby or Revenge of the nerds and it knows what it is. Which makes it so much fun. We aren't watching this for Oscar award winning material. We are watching it to escape and have fun and smile, and I did just that while watching the film. It appeals to the masses while giving you a few good laughs, John Waters style!
The movie is purely for laffs and frivolity!
The plot is thread thin. Six very attractive dudes spend their days together hanging out in a steam room. Unfortunately one of the 'dudes' is there for an ulterior motive. As the story progresses we see 'ulterior motive guy' accepted into the steam room coterie. But this dude falls for 'big muscle dude' and being a member of 'the group'. Thus the twist in the plot. It isn't until the end of the movie we find out why the steam room dudes are always there.
This is a silly light entertainment movie. Why so many uncomplimentary reviews is beyond mee!

- TriviaThe movie that Neil is playing on his laptop when he calls Wade is Is It Just Me? (2010) which is another Cinema175 production.
- GoofsEven if the guys hadn't otherwise seen Beau naked another time, earlier in the film he took off his towel for a snapping session so the guys shouldn't have been surprised by his size at the contest. UPDATE: Beau does not partake in the snapping session. While Bolton, Tad and Ryan do the snapping, Beau is seen on the bench doing his nails with his towel still on.
