Still Human

I thought I would have felt bored at some point because of the genre of the film. Taking care of a handicapped old man cannot develops sopfisdicated plot that attracts audience.

To my surprise I feel not even a moment of boredness and the movie successfully captures my full and unbroken attention. And I can hardly explain why. It is just like the movie has magic power.

I will try analysing this magic power later on when I have time.

Saw this film today with my daughter and absolutely loved it. Poignant yet uplifting in a manner and style reminiscent of Éric Rohmer. Astounding big screen debut for both Crisel Consunji and young female director Oliver Chan Siu Kuen. Oliver has given dignity to two groups of people rarely accorded such in society. And for Hong Kong superstar Anthony Wong with a career spanning over 30 years, having played gangsters, good cop, bad cop and serial-killers, I think this portrayal is one he will forever be proud of. You get so much "rubbish" (as lead character Cheong-Wing would put it) at the cinemas these days but occasionally an absolute gem appears. This film is certainly one of those gems.

An emotional movie doesn't need intense conflicts, stimulating special effects, or pretentious casting. A story that came from my heart was so refreshing. May god bless HK, Wish the brave Hong Kong people to kill the evil dragon.

The director is too green. Lots of major parts are being ignored . For some parts , it's like the Chinese saying " draw a snake but add the legs ".
