Butterfly Tale

"Patrick" is a butterfly with a problem. One of his wings is a bit stunted so he cannot fly. When it comes to their annual migration, this means that he and best pal "Marty" - an enthusiastic caterpillar yet to mature, must stay behind guarding the milkweed. Meantime, "Jennifer" is to be tasked with pulling their emergency supply of this fodder as they travel and the two to be left behind decide to stowaway! Of course they are soon discovered, as is an altitude problem for poor old "Jennifer" too, but not before their journey has begun in earnest and the flutter is way more concerned with getting to the "Orange Forest" without getting munched upon by three marauding and very peckish birds. I quite enjoyed this. The animation is colourful and vibrant; the likeable characters - maybe not so much the occasionally annoying caterpillar - offer us the usual qualities of perseverance, loyalty and teamwork while their pursuing nemeses offer up an excuse for some lightly comedic writing and slapstick with some silk and a bin lorry. I quite liked their own team boffin "Cornelius" too - and though it's perhaps a little bit long, it's a perfectly watchable family feature with a few engaging characters.

One of the Worst Films of the Year 2024 so far.

After Seeing Many Excellent Animated Films. Stuff like this completely stands out as being absolute Rubbish.

It was an absolute Bore of a watch.

At First, when they Announce the Migration, you think "Yeah, this sounds Great and is Going to be a Fun Road Trip" but it just ends up being a Flat Bore of a Watch 😴.

Mainly because of the boring as hell characters and the Structuring of the Film, it's terribly Structured, it's all over the damn place. And then the Constant Generic as hell Score doesn't help either. Don't over Score your films.

Overall, an absolute Snooze.

The story is simple but fun. Patrick is especially excited about spending quality time with the girl he's crushing on, Jennifer. Patrick is a monarch butterfly who cannot fly because of an undeveloped wing. His best friend Marty the caterpillar, helps him by making a prosthetic wing out of silk. The caterpillar is probably one of my favorites. He added a lot of humor and cuteness to the film.

The crew taking part in the annual winter migration south to Mexico, but face a lot of difficulties and dangers.

The animation is magnificent. Beautifully done. Lovely story about cute little friends. Music is amazing. Loved the soundtrack so much.

Little kids might really identify with the characters and like this movie. It has good role models for children with disabilities, and deals with environmental issues.
