You just have to see it for yourself. I was fortunate to have watched it in cinemas which experience has honesty left a lasting impact on me. This movie wrapped up the series perfectly whilst leaving your heart yearning for more. I'm going to go rewatch it again just because of now beautiful the movie is.
This movie is a must watch!
This movie is a must watch!
It's so deep. Emotional. and Relatable. I cried a lot during the screen. Sadly this is the final movie. I can only wish for more. I can't move on. I want to see more.
Violet Evergarden is in my mind some of the best anime ever made. It's not for everyone. It's a slow-burner and very emotional. This movie is even moreso, with parts of it admittedly a bit too over the top in the emotional aspect. Yet it holds true to the story and has a very nice ending (be sure to watch to the end of the credits).
Before watching this movie I recommend watching the Evergarden series and the prior movie; otherwise a large part of this won't have the emotion impact it requires. The movie stands on its own, but just barely. The back-story of the prior episodes are essential to understanding the real point and nature of this film.
This has consistently been one of my favorite stories... and to be honest I'm not really sure why. But the character of Violet is about as complex as I've seen in any anime. The total contrast in goofball supporting characters makes Violet's unique and paradoxical personality stand out even more.
I'm rating this 9 stars when considered along with the prior episodes and film. Without those, this would likely strike me as a more bland film. But with the background of the prior stories, this really hits home. The last quarter of the movie might be considered a bit much by some viewers, or a perfect ending by others. Overall, the series as a whole is unique, creative, and emotionally fulfilling.

Being a continuation from the series, I expected a lot more. The narration from a random character from the future was weird, made no sense, and threw the movie off. Tho the side story with the kid was emotional, too much time was spent on it. I would've liked to have gotten back story on Gilbert's survival, Violet tracking him down, their reunion and where they go from there. But he got maybe a few mins screen time, and the ending was dumb, which annoyed me. Before I found out Gilbert was the love interest, I was rooting for her and the guy in the comet episode. I cried, but it was a let down.
Why go that far to bleed and amend,is this what love is all about, well done, my time was on another planet like ever garden the source was magnificent.wow so satisfying.
