In the age of so called mass movies, S.H.P.S.K is the giant classic movie with a blend of history, drama and reality! Rishab Shetty is no doubt skilled as we saw in his Ricky, Kirik Party and not to forget his role in Ulidavaru Kandanthe. With S.H.P.S.K though, he seems to have a prowess to awaken the heart of a fellow Kannadiga. Veteran and ever glowing Anant Nag as always, justifies his role perfectly. But it is the kids - the innocence, the vulnerability and the natural enaction that makes this movie close to reality.
The key point that makes this movie a classic is the attention to natural intrinsic details, the cultural references and music. May it be authentic accents, the dance forms - Yakshagana and Huli Vesha(Pilivesha) or the catchy songs exploring the Kannada. Where was this guy Vasuki all the while. This right combination is what I think makes this movie bigger than the likes of this generation classics like, Rangitaranga.
Before today, we knew little about the story of Kasargodu. Why aren't we involved in their struggle. Probably it is a wakeup call for all Kannadigas to unite. Kodagina Pravaha, Mahadayi, Kaveri - Uttara,Dakshina,Poorva,Pashchima - every Kannadiga's struggle needs to be carried shoulder to shoulder.
